DAB Station causes ConnectedDrive to crash
Hi all. I have a G30 520d M-Sport which has a strange problem with a particular DAB station. I am in the South East of the UK and when I tune to SAM FM, after a few minutes the screen goes blank and the Connected Drive system appears to reboot.
When it comes back it will have either wiped all stored DAB stations or maintain the stored stations, but always return to the station I was listening to prior to it crashing. I have created a video of the behaviour and posted it on YouTube here: It's been back to the dealership twice - they cannot find a problem. I was able to replicate it in the 520d courtesy car so I know it is not unique to my car. Can anyone else replicate? Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks. |

Update:
Coopers of Reading have had the car twice and said they can find no fault despite the video. Now booked into Sytners, so will see what/if they find anything. If anyone else in the UK SOUTH EAST could try SAM FM and let me know it would be appreciated. |

If that dealer doesn't resolve the problem phone and complain to BMW UK to escalate the issue.
That's the only way I found to get these intermittent faults sorted. |

I recnetly saw a posting where instructions were given to update the connected drive software. I don't know if that will help.
Basically it involves highlighting the connected drive window, then depressing the options button, and then picking the software update. You could try that and see if it worked. |

An update: The car has now been into Sytners (Dealer in Sunningdale, UK) twice and on both occasion they said they had fixed the issue. The second time did sound more promising as they said they were speaking to BMW technicians directly.
Unfortunately I am still able to reproduce the issue within minutes. Now speaking directly to BMW UK who are investigating (when I challenged the quality of their dealer technicians and their honesty) Again - if there is anyone in the SE of the UK that can try this it would be appreciated. I have managed to replicate the behaviour in another G30 and an F30. |
