power tail gate

I think if power tailgate was not available on my car, I would look at Audi or Mercedes. I use this feature so much and find it so convenient, I would not get a car without it. Wonder if they can pre-wire car and have dealer install motor when they become available again.

Anyone who says you can close the trunk yourself, never had this wonderful benefit in the car. Totally Unacceptable by BMW to short this feature.

Really? I've had power tailgate a few times but using my hand to close it doesn't really bother me much.

best feature is when you have a bunch of stuff in your hand, just touch lock button and trunk closes and car locks. This should be STANDARD in a $60k plus car.

I get your frustration especially since it was standard on thr F10. But for me it wasnt a deal breaker. I found a metal bracket that fits behind the license plate to make something ala mercedes s-class W140

I was one of the lucky ones to get this option. If it was not available when I was ordering my car, I would have went to Audi. If only offered Run Flats with no spare, I also would have gone to Audi. Glad I got my 540xi, so much fun to drive.

anyone know why they removed it from the USA-build options list? While I agree it should be standard, not even being an option is quite pathetic (for whatever reason, supply constraints, etc.). Should've been better planned out by corporate.

Never had it, except on SUV's, so don't know what I am missing on a sedan.

CA said part sourcing issue or something. A lot of the first wave of cars ordered by the dealerships did have it. When I ordered mine (is arriving to port tomorrow!!) im February, if I wanted that option, it was a further 4 month delay or so...

So it's available as a stand-alone option?

it was before it was removed from bmwusa.com build your own...by client advisor sited production issues. If it was an suv lift gate, I would care a lot more that it wasnt coming as part of my build... Although for the cost of the car, it should be standard!

I have to agree with you , although it may look like a redundant gimmick but I have been in some situations wish I had this feature when my hands were full of packets .
So, yes in a car a tech galore it should have been standard or more budget friendly option which means less %^^&& well $ to get it

Not true! I've got I it in my Evoque, never miss it in my BMW. Are you ok with opening and closing the doors?

I might not be if Bmw start putting in auto closing doors for free then take it away in the next model.

yes, my hands are usually free at that point. Think about it, how often do you have to run back outside to close trunk or put all you stuff down to close trunk. I just have to touch a simple button. Once you have this feature, you will never want to go back to old school closing manually.

Auto close dooors is not fully auto. I believe you push them to almost close and they do the rest. In my opinion, that is a waste.

I too am used to this feature! Plus I love the fact that if your hand are full, you can also do the foot kick to close it too!

When going to meetings, I do not want to get my hand dirty closing the trunk lid. Plus the kick to close feature is great when I have my hands full.

I was tying to make 2 points
1) found it a bit strange that you mixed your opinion with a statement saying that anybody who says is not good hasn't ever had it. You've done it again, however in this reply, I've had it, got it and don't want to pay for it in the future.

2) I know you can't get autoclosing doors, my point was that every time i use the car i have to open and close the door, it's not that much hassle so I just get on and do it. I don't use the boot every time I use the car and i i doubt that anybody else does. Yes there are occasions when I've got my arms full and it would be easier, doesn't mean I'd pay for something I'd hardly use. I regret paying for this on my Evoque. My view, my opinion only speaking for me.

PS To further emphasise my point, I'd be happy to wind the windows down, e.g. I don't often have rear passengers, when i do they don't open the windows, if they did they could wind them easily. Like most things, it's only useful if you use it often enough to benefit from it. Maybe I should put more stuff in and boot (trunk)
