Well whoever tossed that ball the window will be looking for a new job shortly.

The $100 deposit is a smart move to illicit investor funding by showing the quantity of orders. Tesla live and breath on investments as they barely post profits since inception.
The glass thing still kind of baffles me. Like I understand the one that broke might have been tweaked for display purposes but why would you even have that type of glass on a display model if you want to show off a key features like the glass being ballistic, shatterproof, etc.

Good luck doing any serious towing with this thing. From the reviews I have seen of the Model X towing a 4,500lbs load, the electric range is a joke. Not to mention the supercharger stations aren't exactly setup for pulling trailers, having to unhook the trailer every stop to charge. Unless you get lucky and the charging station is empty, you can pull in blocking all the spots. The tech isn't here yet to serious challenge the truck segment, it will come.

$100 deposit to undercut Rivian $1000 deposit. Starts at $39k vs $69k. In fact the top of the line Cybertruck cost the same as the entry level Rivian but has better specs than the top Rivian model which probably costs 6 figures. Well played, Elon. When Rivian goes bankrupt before they even produce 1 truck Tesla will be the only game in town as they currently are.

Bezos is going to pumping some cash into Rivian, since he ordered 100,000 electric delivery vans to make Amazon carbon neutral.

That was before this happened. Amazon needs to keep costs down to be the price leader and with this it will be tough to beat.

Fairly certain 150,000 x $100 is not equal to $40 mill.

This thing is a publicity stunt, clearly meant to try and draw attention away from the Mach-E (which is certainly a direct competitor to the Model Y), and try and make people forget about Rivian. We have previously seen how good Tesla is at hitting preset pricepoints ($35k Model 3 anyone?), plus there is no actual production date set for the pinewood derby Tesla truck.

The only people that I foresee actually buying these will be Instagram/Youtube influencers, and they are only doing it for the clout. Much like how they hit 150,000 preorders... I can't tell you how much of my social media feeds are flooded with people screenshotting and posting the little reservation owl, just for the likes and lulz.

Well, aren't all millennials generation influenced by Instagram/Youtube/Social media? So Tesla is doing a right thing to sell it, I'm sure they are not trying to sell it to construction workes and F150 owners... Preorders are up to 200K as we speak...

All? No, definitely not me. The majority of people my age are too busy trapping or getting useless degrees to even fathom making enough money to justify the monthly payments on this trapeziod.

As previously stated, I would not be surprised if the overwhelming majority of those preorders are cancelled before actual delivery, because most (from what I have personally seen) are doing it to post the little owl.

Lol yep. Funniest meme I've seen about it is an Aztek 'making love' to a Delorean, and the child is the Cybertruck. Cracked me up.

Bezos/Amazon/Rivian deal is done. This vaporware truck has no bearing on that deal and building delivery trucks.

This isn't an actual work truck, it is a statement vehicle. At the towing capacity of 14k lbs the range will be a joke.

There are probably under 1000 global trucks used the way you're suggesting. Practically every truck is a fraud 99.97% of the time. So this is another one. Cool.

The construction crews near me seem split between Corollas and F350 Dualies. Both seem to serve the same role.

The glass breaking was a staged event.
Musk was in on it.
A guy as smart as Musk wouldn't embarrass himself on a national stage without knowing all the cards being played.

Well played Elon.
