BMW is lost with the new models - first the bland new 7 and this new 5 looks way more conservative than the F10. Look at the hood lines / design.

Maybe it's just me but I'd take Bangle's designs over anything they're selling today. I still turn my head every time I see an E6X pass by. Bangle's BMW's were ahead of their time and still look fresh compared to the Mercs and Audis of the time which look outdated today.

Externally, at first glance it's a F10 with a slightly sloping boot.

(Presumably that's for aerodynamics)

I guess the formulae of light changing the look is not new, look at the VW Golf. Each iteration is not significant from the previous one, but tahts regarded as a successful well respected car. (not my cup of tea personally though!)

I will reserve my judgement when I see one in the metla , hopefully around November. I'll keep an eye on the BMW UK Park Lane dealership In London as My guess is that will probably be one of the first places to get one in.

The E-Klasse is the same but its not trumping every domain.
The reviews state that there is several areas the E-Klasse remains lacking.
What lacks to reviewers usually matters very little to customers. If reviews were the only thing customers were interested in the A6 would by and large be the best selling car in it's class as it has won mostly every comparison in the mid luxury segment. However, we both know the E and 5 sell the best in the segment. Seems the battle is really only between these two cars for sales.

Not sure I like that at all. Top heavy from certain angles - like the 7. A touch of 5 GT in the side profile...

Looking better & better as the car strips its camo clothes

But still, there's gonna be pretty tough competition for the G30.

The new Merc E-Class is a subtle beauty on the outside... but MAAAN that interior is just gorgeous! It looks and feels like a much more expensive car.

I've also seen some camo pics of the new Audi A8. It's going to have a head-turning giant grille and I'm pretty sure the new A6 will have a similar design. Plus, Audi's interior quality is always better than BMW...

The F10 5-Series was superior to the competition in all terms: Design, handling, performance, tech, interior etc.

G30 will face a much fierce competition.

Really? The A6 is the most boring car I've recently witnessed. It has no features whatsoever. It's Mr Bland and if the new 5 loses anymore of its style appeal, think I will go buy a Mondeo which actually looks quite smart in its most recent update.....

Much as I am intrigued don't you think this suspense is being overdone as from all the pointers the design is not revolutionary but evolutionary from the F10 ? I get the impression that the next 3 series is more radical and thus might merit this treatment......

Bummer. No such luck.

If the SOP is November, then shouldn't the official debut be pretty soon?

Have seen the G30 live. http://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1304912

There are people who have already seen it in those closed doors event from BMW. The OP was very unimpressed with the car, and judging by spy shots, renderings etc, this is not unexpected at all.

This car is an evolution but it is impressive in the flesh inside and out. People will feel the product substance and quality.

The main concern is, based on what we have seen with the current 7', customers will be disappointed that BMW did not push design into a more different direction.

I ordered, as a loyal customer, the E39, E60 and F10 new.

Didn't get an invitation though.

Tiny wheels don't necessarily have to be ugly. But that's pure subjective of course.

What's more objective is the observation that this looks more like a LCI than a new generation. But hey, also MB and Audi have limited inspiration and are risk averted for what design concerns.

so is the G30 just an LCI of the f10 LCI? im confused. its not that revolutionary. Granted, it will still be the go to car for corporate leases and fleets but i see no real reason to jump on ordering one to replace my F10.
