Yep, M550 is definitely going to be $87k since I built a 540i to $74k.

Per S6, with options is $83k so prices seem inline.

But the display key isn't on all the time contrary to CA. It should be as safe as the normal key apart from the range which of course makes it easier to hear when you actually use it to open the car.

just read that it does have a range of 300meters, but for door open/close you need to be within 30m

So I built a 540i and then built a 530i with the same options...the difference was only $3,850. If you're paying $70K+, $3,850 to step up to the 540 doesn't seem like much. (edited because I was accidentally building a 530xi)

I wish the difference between my 550 build and the 540 would only be $3,850...wishful thinking I know

I wish the difference in the Netherlands was that small, and that the CO2 difference would also be smaller, if the 540i would be below 140g/co2 i could've traded a few options on my 530i then for a nice 6 cylinder ..

Love the car and the options. Sticker shock was.... Shocking. I would guess a lot of m550s would sell for people who want to best but won't be able to stomach the cost of an m5 ?

need some clarification:

It shows under standard features that it comes with adaptive LED as standard. Ok...
From the base 540i picture it looks like it has projectors so i would assume those are LED with projectors.

Then under premium package, you can pay to get the icon LED headlights as shown on most of the released pictures and those are without projectors.

So that means if i don't get the premium, then i would get the adaptive LED with projectors? :woohoo:

This is very important because i do not like my current LED with reflectors.

Both lights use projectors. Icon lights have projectors in all 4 sections of the headlight whereas the standard LED is just the two outer similar to how xenon headlights were.

Yes, the standard G30 LED are the projector type. Just like on the X1

What dont you like about the reflector type ?

I Believe the high beam on the icon fully adaptive lights are reflector type. The low beams are projector

Dont have one of them on
Only the outer projectors work with both high and low beams on these

The car is getting really expensive. It's pretty easy to get a 540 to 70k.

Oh yah and V8T.

Sorry BMW, you crazy.
Are you seriously comparing prices on a fully loaded 540i with a bone stock S6?

The base price difference is ~$12k, this is just dishonest. I just priced out an S6 to $95,000! How are you saying that these are the same price?

The cut off, range and width. Oh and the adjustability. It is a lot easier to adjust the headlight's height with projector than reflectors. I guess that goes back to the cut-off.

I can't +1000000 this ^ enough. My F30 has reflector full LED headlights and the output is certainly decent but pretty dismal compared to proper projector LED headlights. I'm really thankful the G30 is getting projectors and can only hope that the G20 3 series will follow suit. Reflector LED headlights was such a cheap move by BMW...especially on the optional full LED headlights.

I should add just for posterity that the LED reflector headlights on my F30 were aimed so dramatically low from the factory that it was embarrassing. I spent some time properly adjusting them one evening and it did help quite a bit. Projector LEDs would help even more.
