There's plenty of them on the road in the UK (good knows what will happen if Brexit ends up in a mess mind). Its actually how I changed my mind on moving up from my 4 series. Saw one on front of me (520d Msport) thought it looked great.

yep starting to see them now but certianly not a huge number by any means.
keeping a lookout but keep mistaking other 3's and 7's for them at first glance!

The G30 is not setting the market on fire in the U.S. and Canada. Sales may top the lame duck 2016 model year, but there is no new model bump. One could argue that production ramp-up stifled sales, but pent-up demand would kick in if it existed. The E-class similarly saw no sales bump for the all-new model in 2016 and a steady drop so far in 2017, with its higher volume (at 32,345 YTD US market) including the CLS/coupe/convertible variants. In this segment only the models with increased sales are new nameplates that had short sales duration in 2016: G80, S90 and CT6. Moving up a size, only the Panamera is selling better than last year.

Year US Canada

2010 39,488 2382
2011 51,491 2963
2012 56,798 2727
2013 56,863 2717
2014 52,704 2337
2015 44,162 1996
2016 32,408 2019
2017 YTD 24,799 1630

I've only seen a handful on my travels around Scotland. I agree with one of the earlier posters that most will be company cars and on a 3-4 year renewal rate. They are a relatively new car, so I expect to see more as time goes on.
As for the 530e.. I would have loved to order one, but unfortunately even after months of pestering by me to get hybrids on the list, my company is still "reviewing company car policy"

I agree, company car leases will set the pace in the UK, for moving across to the G30/31 models. Even private buyers don't simply jump at a new model, particularly if they are on PCP deals.

Similar with the F10/11, there appeared to be a slow pick up. Takes a while to get volume into the market. The F10 tells the long term story, look how many 5-series BMW sold over the life cycle.

It is no brainier to me why sales are low:was super excited getting m550xi, drove for 2 month and got rid of it. This was the shortest lease I ever had.
Prior to that I was driving 2014 BMW 550i and it was the best car i've owned.
Here is why:
- 5 series lacks bmw feeling. BMW should be driver's car in some sense
- the HK sound system is complete **** vs previous generation(s) of 5 series. - The steering wheel minimum position is too high, it is angled so you have to adjust seat's height, this was complete joke to me. No offense but unless you have huge belly this steering minimum position is a torture. I am sure they didn't plan this steering wheel position thinking that if it's a 5 series vs 3, the person should be bigger in all dimensions.
- the suspension doesn't transform all that bmw feeling that was in previous generation, the front is too bounce for bmw, even with my dynamic handling package.
- the dash plastic black glossy buttons quality and center dash design overall is a fail.
- the car front and rear is not aggressive for BMW.
I contacted BMW and forwarded my list for the LCI. Steering wheel is crucial.

The F10 was the last perfect 5 series.

PS.
I went ahead and leased Mercedes E class in the mean time. I hate the column gear shiftier, but car is way better and make it up in other departments. I would love (really) to come back to LCI F90 or G30 once they make it a proper 5 series once again.

You'll get used to the column shift in the Mercedes, give it a couple of weeks!
I hated it initially on my C class, but now I think it's great.. no need to take your hands off the wheel to change. The only issue I found is that if I'm trying to change quickly between reverse and drive (when doing a quick 3-point turn) it doesn't always engage as quickly as I'd like, but that's probably down to the gearbox protecting itself rather than the shifters fault.

Really? The first bend I took aggressively on a test drive in a G30 made every fault in the F10's handling apparent to me. Getting back in my F10 to drive home it felt like a boat in comparison.

The f10 felt less refined to me when I drove back after a test drive in a g30 540i

That's my opinion anyway

While 95k usd seems alot. It is actually value for money for malaysian considering the high spec of the car relative to the w213.

How is the sales of the g30 vs w213 in hk? There are a whole lot more w213 compared to the g30.

Well, 530i is indeed higher spec than E250 we are having here. But with E350e just launch and price competitively with 530i at USD 95k. I will see a good fight in the coming months. By the way, MB is still the biggest luxury marque in Malaysia and MAlaysia is rhe biggest market for MB in S.E. Asia
