I thought that the first time I used Car Play - I forgot my books were in Audible and not Apple Audiobooks !

If you're using a dedicated audiobook app (such as Apple Books, Audible, or another), make sure the app's settings are set to use CarPlay to play audiobooks. Also check if there are any restrictions or filters that could hide audiobooks on CarPlay. Make sure the audiobooks on your phone are synced and playable via CarPlay. You can try turning CarPlay off and then on again to refresh the list of available audiobooks!

Make sure your iPhone and CarPlay system have the latest operating systems and apps. Sometimes updates can solve the problem. Make sure the audiobooks on your phone are in compatible formats to play through CarPlay. I had this too, I somehow wanted to listen to the book death penalty, but I had to continue reading at home. This is certainly not pleasant, especially when you go on a trip and there is an error on the screen. You wouldn't wish this on anyone.
