If you are getting message low level coolant (take it to bmw or indy garage) ask to remove bottom cover (just under radiator) there are 2 plastics.

Check bottom corners.

If leak find. Take a picture and ask bmw to replace radiator.

**be aware**
by the way, are you referring to

Low-temperature (front) or High-temperature radiator (behind)

also is it possible to see the part number without lifting up?

another thing, was the coolant suppose to be blue or green? I opened mine (which is brand new vehicle) for the first time and it's green, did BMW switch their OEM coolant recently?

Ok just spoke to an BMW independent shop (dealer service desk is like no one there the day after thanksgiving) supposedly 2019/2020 vehicle are all getting the new green coolant and it's not advised to mix... and no one sell that new part yet, so guess have to take to someone to drain first...

Oh and even better according to some guy on reddit BMW NA f'ed up on not getting EPA certification in time, so I definitely have to use the blue ones, they say it's ok to mix a bit (10%), guess I'll then drive to dealer to have whole thing flush then fill with the blue stuff...

then another update, basically, is my dealer playing games?

they say they top of the reminder coolant and did a test (no leak) but wouldn't flush the system because they say the one I bought (non BMW but did say can be used for BMW since I was in a hurry) is ok and BMW wouldn't pay for flush, should I fight on this?

edit: and can't give me any reason why coolant is green instead of blue or why coolant is low on a car <3000 miles and <1 year (other than wasn't filled fully up when left factory)

I'm no mechanic but I think you are fine. There is a record of your visit so I'm the unlikely event of any further issues, it's on them to resolve.

Doesn't the coolant get replaced at one of the future services anyway? Not sure when , maybe someone will know but thought it was in a similar way to brake fluid being replaced every x years as it will age. Does coolant age?

if the oil change also means flush the coolant, then sure... but I kind doubt it, isn't modern coolant like every 100k miles or some ridiculous number like that?

BMW should own up to this major design flaw with the G30. Such bullshit excuses for a coolant leak in a premium vehicle. I refused to drive my vehicle when it's visibly leaking coolant and requested BMW towed it back. Got my rental car and taxi fully covered by them. Just stand your ground and refer to this forum for reference. I did with my wireless charger after the dealer deny my claim saying it was my phone which has a wireless charging problem

Were you able to find visible coolant leak? Where did you find it, radiator, hosing or somewhere else. I wish I have some more to say other than it's less than 3k miles and build in less than 1 year...

I found traces of blue powder which was evaporated coolant in the engine bay (left side plastic tray underneath the 2 reservoirs), and later on drips of coolant onto the ground whenever I stopped the vehicle (also on the left side of the front bumper just under the left front air vent). That was the ultimate sign which I rang BMW and told them to pick it up and dont give me more BS excuses. I used paper towel to dab on the puddle to confirm it was blue and took videos and photos to show them as well.

It would have costed me around $3000 for the fix according to the work summary left in my car which was covered by BMW warranty.

I did saw green powder on hosing (very very little) but no drip on the grounds, will definitely keep an eye on this...

Sooo for anyone interested, the dealer found my main water pump leaking coolant during its annual oil change visit. By the way, I had to top off my coolant 2 weeks ago as I got the warning message before starting the car. The last time this happened was probably 8-10 months prior.

So there you have it. Leaky water pump getting replaced under warranty. Car has 27K miles.
Glad they found the source of the coolant leak. Coolant is getting replaced, along filters and break fluid flush and change.

In case anyone is interested, received my car back today. So in addition to the mechanical main water pump (Part 11-51-8-638-026) they also found turbocharger coolant line leaking as well(Part 11-53-7-643-094).

Let's see how long the new parts will hold. I am
Also going to check if these are the same part numbers as the original factory parts or rather these are new part numbers that replace the originals.

Bottom line: Mysterious coolant consumption is not normal and must be nipped in the bud sooner rather than later before if
Becomes a bigger and costlier problem.

Here is the PuMA measure in case anyone is interested:

PuMA measure
B38, B46, B48, B58, XB1H - Check Control message: Top up coolant
63482185-05 - 16/04/19

Complaint:
Check Control message (ID 166): Top up coolant
The coolant level in the coolant expansion tank of the high-temperature coolant circuit is below the minimum.
There may also be traces of coolant in the engine compartment or where the vehicle is parked.

Cause
There are various possible causes:

The cooling system was not sufficiently bled initially. While driving the
cooling system bleeds and as a result the coolant level drops in the coolant expansion tank.

The cooling system is leaking (impermissible coolant loss).
Measure
+++
Revision to the previous version of the PuMA measure:
Note:
Bleeder screw: Observe tightening torque of 2.5 Nm.
+++

In the event of a customer complaint, proceed as follows:

Attention:
Only perform the following work on cooled-down components.

1) Check coolant circuit for watertightness:
See repair Instructions 17 00 009.
Check the high-temperature coolant circuit for watertightness using test for loss of pressure.
Test pressure of cooling system (excess pressure): 1.5 bar
test period: 10 minutes

2) Observe pressure:
No pressure drop: Continue with point 4.
Pressure drop present: Continue with point 3.

3) Search for leak.

Check coolant pump.
The coolant pump has a reservoir. During engine operation the
slide ring seal of the coolant pump needs to be lubricated. The coolant required for lubrication is collected in the
reservoir. Slight traces of coolant could be visible on the lid of the reservoir.

Slight traces of coolant on lid of reservoir (see attachment, figure 1):
Clean the lid. Check if coolant leaks again at the lid if excess pressure of 1.5 bar is applied.
- If coolant is leaking: Replace coolant pump.
- No coolant leaking: Do not replace coolant pump. Search for leak and
repair accordingly.

Excessive traces of coolant on lid of reservoir (see attachment, figure 2 and 3):
Replace coolant pump.

After repairing the leak:
Bleed cooling system and check for watertightness:
See repair Instructions 17 00 039.
Note:
Bleeder screw: Observe tightening torque of 2.5 Nm.

4) Release pressure:
Adjust the filling level in the coolant expansion tank of the high-temperature coolant circuit.
In doing so, it is imperative to follow repair instructions 17 00 039.
The filling level in the coolant expansion tank is adjusted either to the maximum mark or 200 ml above it, depending on the model.

Notes on factory filling of high-temperature coolant circuit:
The initial coolant circuit capacity of the high-temperature coolant circuit was already optimised in the vehicle factories.
The introduction dates are:

G30, G31, G32: 01 February 2019
G38: as of series launch
Invoicing:
Processing and reimbursement must be conducted according to current warranty conditions.

In case of defective cooling system bleeding, use the following defect code.
Recommended defect code for GWK cases: 17 11 00 72 00

Use the following defect code for a leaking coolant pump.
Recommended defect code for GWK cases: 11 51 07 48 00

Well that's how they discovered the leaks, during the scheduled oil change/yearly maintenance. Do complaint about the low coolant so they can note it in the service ticket.

I got the car towed back to them using BMW roadside assistance (included with the car). I refuse to drive it when I discovered the reservoir was dry.

They had no choice but to do a full system check and agreed to the warranty claim and replace the expansion tank as per the report that was given to me afterwards.
