Just got towards the end of my current tank today - managed a total of 550 miles... which I was utterly amazed at (70 miles remaining on range). Mostly motorway / dual carriageway miles with cruise control set at 72mph. Very impressive indeed I would say!

I went from 40i to 40d. I don't regret the change one bit (well maybe the mppsk I had but not a show stopper!). Low down torque is a hell of a lot more usable day to day !

You can't get the 540d in the UK

I went from a 340i to an x3m40d, so car handling changes as well.

But I actually prefer the diesel B57 over for the petrol B58, it's just more usable < 70mph

Talking about 6 cyl 5er. Our Malaysian market dont even sell it anymore. Its either 2.0l or 4.4l V8. No more intermediate range which is sad as I was looking on 540i before deciding to stick to 530i instead as it will cost me around USD 130k to special import.

At least you have the v8. We don't get offered that in the UK, there was a rumour it might come but it's all gone quiet and my guess is that we won't ever get it.

Arguably the straight six is the sweet spot whether diesel or petrol.

Having owned a M5 (F10) which really has too much power (I am normally like Jeremy Clarkson….more power!) , I have to agree that a straight six with about 400-450hp would be the sweet spot for these cars in the UK.

When you have 500-600hp you get frustrated because you cannot safely use all the potential 99% of the time.

I feel that with the 540i. I love coming off a roundabout onto a motorway slip road and "flooring it" up to the motorway. The issue though is that you reach legal limits in a matter of seconds.

So you can argue the more powerful the car is, the quicker the fun is over )assuming you are keeping legal)

Mate, when i said V8 i meant full blast M5. Haha!! If i were to have it for daily drive, M5 wil be too overkilled. Besides, its bloody exp! Its around USD 280k. No way i can afford that, ot i would put it. With that price, i would have gone for 992 Carrera S.

Exactly, with out shitty potholes and south East Asian style traffic. (Imagine Bangkok, Jakarta tho im from K.Lumpur)

90% of the time i would be stuck in KL traffic and KL is where ppl drive posh luxury cars to show off on weekends. Imagine all lining up to get into shopping mall. Its ridiculous. 😂

Same pot holes here in the UK. I have been to KL many times staying mainly around Bangsar and the traffic is getting worse, like all cities

Hahaha!! Wow, hard to find someone in the forum know about KL and can even pronounce our city correctly. Yes Bangsar is famous for their posh lifestyle and luxury cars but also famous for crazy jam.

Been going since 2002 staying with the in-laws just behind the John Hancock building , was there last year staying in the Eastin Hotel. Love the place......and have seen the F1 GP 5 times at Sepang. It is cheaper to go and see there than going to Silverstone.

Aw... so u married a Malaysian? Lol. Yeah, basically everything here is cheap but up to standard. Eastin Hotel is a good choice, try their Chinese DimSum, its fantastic. Bangsar And P.J. Areas are full of good foods and awesome hipster cafes. Some of which are even better than back home in UK. Ooppss.

F1 in Sepang will be amiss. No longer have F1 race here due to corruptions and mismanaged of funds run by local natives. Sad case.

Thanks for all the responses, folks
I've decided against getting a new 5 next year now in favour of an M340i xDrive, probably in G21 Touring format. More fun to drive, tbh, and a step up in finish and refinement over the F30/31.

No married a girl from Zimbabwe, but her father worked all over Asia working for a large Tobacco company and was based in KL for the last 18 years. Did the Dimsums last year and always visit PJ's when I am there along with 'Out of Africa'

Yes sad to see the end of F1 there....hopefully they host again.....miss it
