Hi All,

I have just fitted the entire rear camera OEM kit but am a complete newbie to coding BMWs. I have previously coded using bimmercode app but for some reason it isnt connecting to my car. I have been told I need to use ISTA or Esys. I have no idea where to even start with these. If someone could help, I would highly appreciate.

Hi,
I own a G01 with an MGU head unit. Could someone please brief me on which pins to insert the rear view camera harness on the BDC. The installation instructions that came with my Retrofit states that I install the Yelow cable (A6) into Pin 54 of plug A258*8B, but that pin is already occupied.

That pin is for the Ethernet switch. You need to wire it to the Ethernet switch not to the BDC

Yeah the BDC was what I meant. 54 pin socket housing of plug A258*8B on my BDC in already occupied. I unplugged that particular cable to see what error message I get, the HU did not turn on.

Can’t seem to figure out what that particular cable is or where it goes, but when I plugged in the yellow cable into pin 54 of the other sockets with the exception of A258*8b, I get this error message.

You cant plug the pin into random sockets. They have different allocations.
Can you take image of the wire in pin54 in A258*8B. Which colour is it?

I think I found something relevant in this post. It show all the wirings of an X3 G01 on the BDC. The free and occupied slots match exactly mine. Reading all the allocations on A258*8b and A258*9b shows I should be using pin 40 on A258*9b and not 54.

Wire the connection to X1329*1V, This combines multiple ETH_WUP(Wake-up signal Ethernet data line) pins from various modules to Pin 54 A258*8b.
Pin 40 A258*9b is not ETH_WUP

Which navigation system and driver assistance package does the vehicles have?
An Ethernet switch (ENS) is used on the G30 depending on the vehicle equipment.
On vehicles with Head Unit High, the Telematic Communication Box (TCB) and the Rear Seat Entertainment are directly connected to the head unit. The data transfer from the Head Unit High to the instrument cluster takes place via APIX. The instrument cluster does not require Ethernet. As a result, the Ethernet interfaces on the Body Domain Controller are sufficient, and no Ethernet switch (ENS) is required.
