For car guys like us, it really shortens the summer by a month. It's no fun taking them out.

Have noticed since having the splitter fitted that the G31 feels more ‘planted’ & the steering feels ‘heavier’ at high speeds, so I did a little research & it appears that the ACS splitter not only looks excellent it actually adds around 40kg (88lbs) of downforce over the front axle. The steering always felt very light at high speed, which took me a while to get used to but now it feels….better, which I wasn’t really expecting as I thought the splitter would just be cosmetic, I didn’t expect it to actually work

Been out in it again this afternoon, luv the way it drives, stops & looks now

The worst of pollen season is over, here. But it’s still hanging around. Honestly, it will hang around at a mild level all summer here. Memphis is literally one of the worst places in the country to live in for someone with allergies (like me).

Is the default nature of the M550 that much sportier than the 540i M sport that comfort is better or is this just your preference? I coded mine to start in Sport Individual and the only time I ever use comfort is long highway trips. Might as well not even have Eco Pro mode as I never use it after the first time trying it.

I was like you with my F10 535i M Sport. Never used ECO unless on a road trip. Was in Sport alot as my car didnt have dynamic dampers and sport and comfort was more about engine that comfort. With the M550i i am rarely in sport. I like the comfort settings for the ride. Its got enough grunt that stepping on the gas gives me enough responsiveness. I also use ECO more frequently when im on the highway. Just my experience between the 6 and 8.

Hard for me to answer because I have DHP so the suspension is different. But it’s not so much sportier for me in comfort as you just have so much power and response from the throttle that you don’t think about it much. But lately I drive more in Sport Standard or Sport Indiv. I’ve been doing so much window shopping for sportier models like the M850 and M5 that I feel like I need to actually take advantage of the sportier drive settings in my car and not sell it so short mentally.

I’m not, sorry, and I’ll spare you my lecture. It’s just not a BMW sponsored thing and never was. It’s kind of viewed as ricey by most BMW enthusiasts. Kind of like fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror of a Charger.

But hell, as they say “it’s your car”, but I wouldn’t roll into a BMW cars and coffee meetup with them. Your ears will be burning.

Oh it’s night and day more sporty and capable than the B58/540. I have the B58 in my X5 and I totally get the urge or need to stay in sport.

Comfort is a mini beast in the M550, no dog in it at all. If I need a little bump in comfort I slap the lever left.

The roads suck here as you know. I prefer comfort for the softer dampers and the overall comfortable ride when tooling around town or bumper to bumper traffic. But yes, Comfort in the M550 is not what Comfort is like in the 540. The V8 just pulls like there is no tomorrow from zero and doesn’t need the higher revs to kick in the turbos to get results. Sport mode has higher shift points, so you get the benefits of the turbos on the B58 sooner.

So when I do use Sport or Sport Plus, it’s just feels like a whole other level and a treat because I’m not driving in it all the time.

Speaking of - I also coded in the sport display that will show the oil temp. And now have that preset number 1. My first three presets are Sport Display, Apple CarPlay, and Tire Pressure.

I also coded off the fake engine noise, drivers seatbelt chime, start up warning screen, and maybe a couple others I’m forgetting. Bimmercode is a cool thing.
I may have to pull up my Bimmercode app to find options. Where can I find Default to Sport Indiv and display presets like you mentioned above ?

I don’t remember exactly. What year do you have? I thought I’d have to redo mine after my last service but I guess replacing the expansion tank doesn’t require a reset.

I like the coasting feature in Eco Pro for neighborhood driving. After coming off the main drag and putzing along in 25 mph zones to get home, I'll go Eco Pro and just coast along.

Just put a stiffer rear bar in my 530iX. Got a used one from an M550iX (24.5mm) to swap for the 18mm that was in there. Reduced the understeer a bit and makes turn-in seem a little more responsive (running Michelin PS4S non-runflats). Later M550iX rear bars are even larger (25.7mm). I did the same thing years ago to my E39 525i with an E39 M5 rear bar, so I thought I would try it on this one. Curious that the heavy vibration absorber is mounted on the left in the 530iX and on the right in the M550iX, so different sway bar brackets.

Let me say first, you do you. We all do something that someone else wouldn’t do. Its life. And this is not important stuff. So, do you.

Okay, I’d put it this way: You know how there’s the stereotypes where non BMW drivers look at guys driving bimmers and say “gah that dude is trying too hard”.

Well, the grill stripes will have the other BMW drivers looking at the stripes and saying “that dude is trying too hard”.

But again, it really doesn’t matter. Do what you like!

This could have been me Sunday. I was half joking about being on the local news. Just change the BMW to mine and the speed to 140. In NH just like me. Again, what was I thinking.

Glad you have a good attitude. I’m a total asshole when it comes to my comments on grill stripes. Don’t mind me, carry on!
