Production repeatedly pushed back (Priority 1 paint)?
After getting my allocation, I added a Priority 1 paint to my order. I'm referring to one of the colors listed as "Priority 1" on the pricing guide (the ones that cost $1,950).
At the time, I didn't realize that even these not-quite-Individual paints are a headache... For further changes of any kind, my salesperson had to ask his BMW rep to do it. Also, the configuration locked very early because of this - around a month before the expected production date. After I added this paint, the production week was pushed back by one week. When that date came, the production week was pushed back by another month. Now I'm not sure if the car will be made then either... Anyone else experienced this? Is this normal for these types of orders? Information about this process is lacking a bit, and BMW and the salespeople don't tell you what to expect. I don't think I would have ordered it if I had known that it would complicate things to this degree... Since it's on the pricing guide, I figured it couldn't be such a big deal, but it looks like it can be a pain. |

Yeah my order made in June kept slipping further and further back. Was just told that BMW are not fulfilling any G30 orders with individual options for the rest of the year. So could be March 2019 or something. My only individual option is just the paint, and not an unusual colour, just a silver which is still currently listed on the web configurator.
To be honest, I'm going to bail on the order and buy a Merc, I think. |

This is not good... I'll ask my dealer to find out what's going on. I can't wait until next year... I wonder if it's possible to have them change the color to a standard color at this point, but I'm guessing not. |

I think your SA would need to cancel the order and place a new one, if you're happy to go with a standard colour. Pretty bad they can't deliver a colour which is still listed on their web configurator though, you have to wonder what is going on there.

Have you asked them to see if they can trade an allocation with another dealer. That is what my dealership did on my M550.

First, I'll check if my dealer can find any information about what's going on with the individual orders on this car. Not sure he can even find out... Before placing the order for the Priority 1 paint, I actually searched the forums extensively and didn't find any such issues being reported. Just my luck that something exceptional happens just when I have an order pending... |

Any of you guys get more news on this? I just came across this thread, but ordered an M550 in Azurite Black over the weekend. Dealer didn't say anything about delays in the individual paints...and it appeared that they had several G30s on order already.

Mine went to status 150 (start of production) a few days ago, and has been stuck there without making progress. It looks like with these individual paints there's a delay in getting to start of production, and then additional delays after start of production...

My order had been pushed into March 2019, but then recently updated to October 2018. Dealer is as confused as I am, not sure what BMW are playing at. But seems possible for October now, not too far away.

Just let allocation go due to ind paint denial. I was told I could not get a custom build with individual paint this year as they were not doing anymore individual paint this year. The allocations are tough enough to come by with the M550 as is. Anyone with any solid answers

Second week of August, I asked for an individual paint. I was told they were booking PW42 for special orders. However, I declined due to the $5k additional cost. Point is, 3 weeks later it seems odd that they have closed bookings for the rest of the year. |

It does sound odd. It’s probably b.s. If it takes that long, I probably should wait for 2020. Heard it’s likely to get a bump to 523hp like the m850. Thanks guys

Yeah, if you can wait for the 2020 LCI model with the improved engine, I would definitely wait. Having said that, there is some risk of tariffs being imposed by then, so that's something to keep in mind.

I received a production number 10 or so days ago for an individual color. We were told production would be early Oct and delivery end of Nov/first week of Dec at the latest. I just switched that individual color yesterday and am awaiting word if it messes up my present production week. I'm really hoping not.

I was also told late Nov/early Dec and have had individual color on my order from the start.
The thing is, while I'd love to get the car sooner I would probably be willing to wait a (reasonable) amount of time longer to secure the color I want. If it extends past the new year, though, I will probably be asking my dealer to renegotiate the deal, especially since I assume MY19 market prices will start dropping the closer we get to MY20 release. |
