Are you sure this can be coded? I'd think it's a hardware limitation...

Without the HW, how will coding help?

If it was that easy, everyone with it would have saved $3400 bucks.

Interesting that you asked...I just came from the G05 X5 forum...and someone had just posted that they saw the B&W selection in Bimmercode...and they coded this feature to their G05 X5 which had the HK sound system.

Here's a link, you can read what they wrote and said: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=60

I'm sure it can be coded, I just doubt that it makes a difference since HK will only sound as good as the hardware allows.

From my perspective, BMW probably made them sound as good as they can. Adding B&W processing may have a negative effect.

+1, but worth a look as it is as simple as checking active or de-active. I agree, it won't make the B&W subs and amps magically appear.

You might be able to activate the B&W "effects" e.g. concert / studio. Not sure it would work without the microphone in the actual option that calibrates the sound from different speakers.

AFAIK, B&W is only a speaker company, so the head unit/processor in the car may be the same as that of the HK system (speaker and amps being the difference), other than the processing algorithm. Coding B&W enables the option in iDrive, and perhaps activates the processing the option; but without the actual amps/speakers, it's still not going to give you the same sound.

I have not tried it, but someone posted on the M550iX Facebook forum that when you code B&W to the standard HK system, in addition to the different software, you get a different equalizer display with more adjustment. They found it a useful add. I have considered the change just to see, since it is totally reversible. Just haven't gotten around to it...I'm perfectly happy with the factory HK system...though I did add the BavSound Ghost Subs.

The coding is in Headunit
-> High_end_audio b&w
-> high_end_audio menue
—> Both to voll_insz (= full menue)

You'll get the audio menue and a slightly changed tone but you wont recognize it if you doesnt know it.

I only purchased the BavSound ghost subwoofers, as I feel the rest of the speakers in the HK system are adequate. The Ghost subs hit harder and are cleaner sounding, but unfortunately do not go lower/deeper. That is a function of speaker diameter and "throw" which cannot change due to the limitations of the stock location they are mounted.

This is a popular coding option in the G30 FB group and the guys that have it coded swear if makes a massive improvement to their H&K audio set up.

I have purposefully quizzed guys that have had this done and they all swear by it. Not had it done myself as I’ve not coded my G30, as I’ve just dropped money on extending my warranty, now she is over 3 years old and I don’t wanna give BMW Uk any excuses to not cover any faults etc.

Same as I’ve not remapped yet, but would love too !

So, is this something specific to ID7 because (per bimmercode's website) you need the HU_MGU head unit? I have the HU_NBT_EVO and, so far, I have not found a way to do this.

Correct for LCI. BMW unified H&K and B&W to one unit called the Receiver Audio Module (RAM). But as you mentioned, without the B&W amps and speakers, you won't get the B&W sound quality.
