How could this damage been have caused?

Hi,

from the image I feel like someone had purposely kicked it - but i'm thinking if that is the case then surely more damage would have been done?

Has anyone had a similar problem where it could have just unclipped from maybe going over a bump too fast?

Looks like you may have parked over a high kerb, got it caught and then pulled it off when reversing?.... is it scratched underneath?....
