M550 suspension upgrade

What aftermarket suspension upgrades should I consider for a 2020 m550

What companies are reputable

I want it to be as good as it possibly can be around corners

For coilovers you have KW variant 3;
Some of us have also made some upgrades to suspension arms, bushings… you’ll find info in this forum in the suspension subforum

For the kw variant 3, I’m on the site and I don’t see m550 under the sub model section. Which sub model fits it?

I’m sure you can find a dealer in the US, if you do a search in these forums you’ll find a few members in the US with these coilovers

I was very impressed with ac schnitzer springs on my g29 z4 m40i and considering the same upgrade on my g30.

If you’re buying a 2020 M550 knowing you’ll be replacing the suspension to make it better around the corners, why not just buy an M5 instead? I get they’re more expensive but find one with more miles or maybe a 2018 or 2019?

Not criticizing your choice, just curious what the thought is there.

What about it? The seats? I’ve never been in an M5. I assumed most of the comfort difference lays in the suspension, but your changing that. Are the seats just more difficult to get in and out of?

With the v3 it'll likely perform as good if not better handling wise, and the engine is quite close in capability too. The cooling is the biggest thing to solve in the 550 if the car is being pushed.

I set out looking at buying an f90 m5 comp, even went to a dealership to drive one but after spending 30 seconds sitting in it I didn't even bother test driving it.

The seats have very pronounced "wings" at the top. I'm 6'4 with fairly broad shoulders and they just sit in the very wrong place for me. I couldn't buy it unfortunately.

In fact, I challenge you to find me any f90 m5 competition with more than 20k miles on the clock that doesn't look REALLY worn on these wings.

It's strange, because the g8x m3/4 doesn't have anything like as large a wing, and neither does the M8 or X5/X6m, it's JUST the f90 that does. M8 seats for comparison:

If i decide to get an m5 in the future I'll probably have to source a set of m8 front seats first and try and make them fit

Whereas the comfort seats on the m550i are another level of comfort for day to day driving:

Is it as sporty? No, but with some small mods it can be more than capable, even just m5 competition anti-roll bars and a decent geo make it quite capable, and let's face it, 530bhp with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds is not slow

I dislike all M seats, it’s as if they’re deliberately uncomfortable, and as you said the f90’s are arguably the worst. I’ve heard of people swapping the seats out with the g30’s. Seen the reverse done for sure.
