Can the M550s be tuned?

Is tuning available for these yet? I dont mean canned tunes from dinan or some other company that gets some file from bmw but real tuning where they can go in and make the changes they want for fueling timing boost etc?

Yes it is possible, and now even via OBD port....
not sure availability of tuners where you live but check out for SEDOX tuning....they are all over the world with great results and quality. I had their maps on two cars..... better than that would be custom made map on dyno .
Good luck with that beast!

These folks are currently developing a new tune for the current M550i's. I'm patiently waiting.

The last email I received from BM3 was the end of March for a release for the M550i. Maybe I will email them again.

Apparently the support tech at BM3 that replied to my message a month ago missed the part about my car being the M550i rather than just the 530 or 540. They just released the tune for the 540 and are working on the 530 now.

The email I just got back yesterday says they are a "long time away" from having a tune for the M550i.

I'd love to do the DME tune... but $1,500 seems pretty steep when the JB4 is $600, and the BM3 tune will probably be $895.

I'll wait for the BootMod3 tune. I like that I will be able to change the mappings with my phone and put it back to factory without any physical changes.

And is plug & play, you don’t mess with permanently nothing in the car. I use in my 2018 F30 330e and reach 314Hp, spent 750€ and when I go to maintenance in the BMW dealer I remove it and it go back with the factory settings

I don't want anything under the hood. I'm interested in programming the factory ECU like BootMod3 offers on other engines, but thank you!
