The only current BMW I like the look of; and it will probably be destroyed by the LCI big grille. Lol

Looks like the grill will be as big as the Pre-LCI G11 7 series, hopefully this means it will still look good and not too comical, but honestly, I still love the look of the current Pre-LCI G30, sure its restrained and doesn't take any risks, but I don't really think it needs to.

What I am really bummed about is how the 3 and 5 series have become such big cars. I like the E39 as a size reference for a mid sized luxury sports sedan.

I do like the rear 3/4 angle looks really good. I'm sure it will be great to drive, just not sure if I want to be seen driving it yet.

Tint the windows.

Nobody needs to know you're in there.
True statement... but inevitably it's like the cool unattractive chick in college that you don't want your friends knowing you hook up with occasionally because she is actually fun to be with... you can try to hide it but someone is going to talk somewhere down the line

I should also add that this is bad at the time because you are also a shallow piece of shit college kid...

I'll probably still tint the windows

Are you asking if the LCI destroys resale value of pre-LCI vehicles?

If so, the answer is that it probably does have some negative impact, but the alternative would be to never update products which would lead to obsolescence and irrelevant in very short order.

If you own a BMW for longer than 3 years you'll always have an outdated model. I understand the need but this really impacts resale and can see why most owners prefer to lease.

Actually, since BMW makes updates on a yearly basis (or even more often, sometimes), you'll soon have an outdated model no matter what. Sure, aesthetic changes are usually reserved for an LCI, but then there are some non-aesthetic things (like an engine update, for example) that may happen any time and may have an even bigger impact on value than what amounts to a minor cosmetic change (lights and bumpers, typically) from the perspective of many used vehicle shoppers.

Either way, leases work out great for both the new car shopper and the manufacturer, so in the end, the LCI is a win-win.

The F90 is an M5.

Unless there's some trick question you are trying to ask...

ALREADY? Is it not too soon? Can they also refresh the new 1 series already too while they're at it?

G30s came out in 2016 as '17 models. BMW does the LCI halfway through the 7 year cycle.

I'm sure that there are a number of Europeans chuckling at a comment like that coming from an American!

The dimensions are very similar. I remember the day I picked up my E39 540i with a ~280hp V8. I got on the highway and floored the accelerator. It scared the hell out of me. I actually turned to a buddy who was with me and said something like, OMG, this thing may be too powerful for me!!

God damn it, the new "angel eyes" are growing on me! I hated them at first. Basically, I've come to the conclusion that BMW can put out any garbage design and I will eventually stick my foot in my mouth.

But still, no manual no go for me.

Looks like the front end is taking some cues from the 7er LCI with the more squared off headlights, and the X5 with the DRLs.

Resale value is destroyed the minute you drive off the dealer lot.

BMW seems to think bigger is better and their cars are becoming cartoonish and outlandish in design. I would be willing to pay my hard earned $$$ for a brand new e39 M5 if they decided to bring it back. Come on BMW, Nike brings back limited editions of their classic designs, you should too.

ok. you basically stated exactly what i did. A lot of '17 G30 5ers have '16 build dates even if they released in the US in 2/17 and they even built them for 3 months in '16 released in Oct/Nov as '16s

I really hope it gets the same treatment as the 7er LCI as the current design is a touch dull, an LCI 545e would be perfect as I can't stretch to the 7er version.
