M5 Menu & Ambiant lighting for M550i LCI
Hi Guys not sure if this has been covered yet if so I cant seem to find it. So I was attempting to code the M5 menu / guages. I found a pretty good post that tells you to set everything to aktiv but doesnt tell you what is needed on the lines that have addtional info needed other than aktiv.
Also do we have an walk through from going into expert in the BCM to adding the addtional figures needed to code the addtional colors of ambiant lighting. |

thelenswap I can speak to ambient lighting. Definitely get ProTool if you want to code custom colors. Bimmercode will work but you will need to use Expert Mode and figure out the hexadecimal values for the colors you want. I recommend searching this forum for "ambient lighting" and you should find some good posts on how to do it.
As for M5 menu/gauges, that's a pretty open-ended question because there are lots of options out there. I'd grab ProTool or Bimmercode, then explore and experiment. You shouldn't need to use Expert Mode for any of this, which will help to keep you out of trouble. |

Thanks for the tip on protools, yay something else to learn about. I don’t mind putting in values in expert mode. I’ve done the anti dazzling lights & a few other script heavy codes. The search continues. Im sure there has to be a cataloged list and sop for various coding institutions out there somewhere.

You can check out Bimmercode options here. Under Instrument Cluster options, there are several options under "Layout" that you will have to try. I remember trying this once on my G30 but it wasn't for me personally. I went with the stock look but increased the speedometer to 200 mph. And no, I haven't tested it to see if it works at that speed.
