Any know if there's a quick fix for chattering windscreen wipers? Driving my ocd nuts.

Joking aside, usually if I put some sort of wax on the windshield that will help. Worse comes to worse get a set of new blades. I can't stand when that happens as well

I'm wondering if the ceramic coating has something to do with it but I thought it would help of anything.

Edit: Just cleaned the blades with some dish soap and water instantly turns gray/black. I guess waiting around for 4.5 months for me to drive it didn't help. Problem fixed, shit was driving me nuts and I wouldn't remember until it started raining.

RainX will probably work. I've used it on my SUV. But know that night time driving is different. The light reflection off the windshield due to their product creates sort of a prism effect. Took a while to get used to.

Cleaned the blades off. So much German winter port dirt came off.

Another "trick" i've done is to wax your windshield. I use the cheap shit, like turtle wax. It essentially does the same as RainX, but its not oily. Takes a bit of work to get it right, but the effect is the same. You get great bead up on moisture and no squeaky or chattering wipers.

I've had good results using Bead Maker sealant on the windshield and windows. I was hesitant to use it initially, but it's very easy to apply and remove and leaves the glass really slick and clear with no steaking or residue.

Pretty much everything I use in the paint can be used on glass and I use it on the glass. Gtechniq C2V3, Bead Maker and Opti Clean are all toppers or cleaners I use on the glass. On the highway, I don't even have to use my wipers. Water just beads and rolls off. I'm sure the ceramic on the glass helps too.

Now Mark, back to the glasses, not even readers????

Hahaha! Not yet buddy! My eyesight was done every year in the Military and it was always 20/10 or better. Just passed my DL renewal at the DMV in April with flying colors. Maybe its gonna hit me hard one day. LOL

I'm going to try this! Seems like a good method for sure. Just the name alone gives it justice.

That's impressive! I can see like a hawk when it comes to distance, but I can't read my friggin phone without readers. I refuse to set a 30 point font like some of my friends that are in denial.

I'm starting to have issues reading the micro font on back of food packages, etc. But can clearly see 12 font on computer, phone, etc.

I know its coming though. Both mom n dad needed readers. So its inevitable.

We need the "hot V" BMWs to become cheap enough for some instagram car person to just point an elbow off of the turbos and put it straight though the hood. Add a tune for some flames when rolling off the throttle and all with be right with the world.

I don't want this b/c I think it is cool, but b/c I want to see the head shaking at BMW when those pics go viral.

Who is with me?

Hmmm, now back to my original task, finding my meds. Hmmm...where did I put them.

Some screen additives can degrade the ceramic on a windscreen rapidly, been advised to add AngelWax 'Clarity' to mine to stop just this.
It's on way to me right now, so cannot comment with authority.
My screen has Carpro 'Flyby Forte (21) on it, not the easiest ceramic I did, so want it to last.
I certainly do not get juddering or smearing.
Keeping blades free of crud certainly will help.

Rain x on top of another ceramic coating - pass, not sure how that will fare.

I'm a gosh damn mf'n moron. The car isn't the only thing I'm OCD about. I decided I had some time on my hands so I should shaft that spare set of golf clubs that I haven't gotten to. But I wouldn't want to wake up (piss off) my (very pregnant) wife by opening the garage and moving cars out. So, I'll just be careful and do it with the cars in their spots. Well, I guess I wasn't paying attention to how close I was getting to my hood and finally the 5 iron was long enough to bump the hood as I removed it from the vice. DOH!!!

It's about three teeny tiny scratches. You have to be on top of them, looking for them, to see them. No one besides me will notice. The detailer can buff them out, no problem. That's all good news. Lesson learned. I didn't jump off the roof or lose my sh*t. But boys (and maybe girls?), I feel like a real grade A dumb ass!

I won't lie to you guys… I wish it had been the wife's silver SUV instead of the dark graphite 540

Edit to add… maybe the ceramic took the brunt of it?? One can only hope…

We've all done stuff like that. Your heart was in the right place. I've done stuff like that out of laziness, ie didn't feel like backing out the cars. The more you do stuff like this the more OCD you get and it won't happen again, you will move the cars out or wait for the wife to wake up.

If you can't feel the scratches with your finger nail they can be buffed out. I'll tell you, I've been using this Dr Colorchip on a few minor dot like pits I've noticed and it's amazing. I ordered it a while ago but didn't have the need until recently. It's amazingly easy and dummy proof.

Ceramic does not do much to protect from impact. People think because it's called ceramic it's like a sheet of armor.

Eh, we've all done stuff like that. My rule is no dents no foul. Polish it out and re-coat the area.

As for "we've all done stuff like that", here's my biggest "doh!"

I'm doing work on my E53 X5 4.4 back in the day. Blowing out the radiator from inside the engine compartment, feeling great that I'm not wedging stuff further in as I see the debris come out. Then I hear a "click" as the air nozzle touches the oil cooler. "Oops, be careful dummy" I say to myself. After I'm done I start the X5 up and see a shower of oil flying everywhere. That oil cooler was a $1k part!
