M550i Allocations and Build Times?

Curious what recent buyers are being told. Might pull the trigger later this year, especially if it's a 6-8 month wait.

Well, not an M550, but I got our 540i in early June after ordering it in January.

If waiting out, you might even find some at the dealerships. It's been 6 - 8 months after you place an order, so if you wait too long it might be the 2024 model lol.

But then again things seem to be getting a little bit better now...

Well, seeing the '23 model isn't in the configurator I think I have a little time. I'm hoping the market shifts a little and maybe towards the end of this year I can order at a discount. Are build times still 4-6 months?

Once the car enters production, the actual manufacturing time is only around 10 days. The longest part is waiting at the loading dock, travel time on the water and then waiting time at the port for customs. Mine is currently in early production, but is expected to be at the dealership late August / early September.

You'll have to shop around at different dealers, and see who has an allocation available. I was hesitant to do it with my local dealer and have to be waiting months for one, so looked at the bigger BMW dealers in the NYC/NJ area and found one that was receiving several of the 2022 deliveries (non to the specs I wanted) but was confident they would get a 2023 allocation.

I would say within a few days of finalizing my build sheet, dealer had an allocation and sent the build over (June 24th).

As of today (July 19th), it's being dispatched from the factory. I'm guessing it will be another 4-6 weeks for shipment/delivery.
