Creaking Dash?

10K miles on the clock and, like my previous 128 and 135, the creaking dash emerges from sleep. Temp not a factor. It is only present under certain road conditions. Not all bumps cause it. Ironically, it seems to only occur with smaller road imperfections. Anyone else? Any solutions?

Yes, seems to be near the drivers side. Put your foot down a little harder though and you can't hear it anymore!

I think I'm in the same boat. Mine sounds like a piece is loose and hitting against something. It seems as if its coming from the dash somewhere. As stated by op, not every road bump triggers it.

Now my condensation sensor is fixed in place in the rain sensor housing behind the mirror the irritating consistent rattling has gone. yay.

However occasionally I hear a sort of clicky sound (like rubbing cellophane) From around the centre air vents in the dash. I think I have the cure. Move the vent! Will be trying this theory out more I suspect.

Also, a clicky sound from drivers side vent however this is temperature related as we have a hot spell here in UK and its only when hot inside and air con goes on.

I have the same thing here - a "POP" from the dash area, and seems to be on the passenger side occasionally when I hit an uneven surface in the road.

I have that issue sometimes too...after I added my coilovers last year. I thought it might be a weak weld joint, dealer didn't have any insight either. I hear it around the dash, driver-side.

I had one too and it disappears when you touch the navi screen, specifically top of its frame, can be fixed easily though...

Interesting that you said that; I don't have navigation and never had these sounds from the dash area. Can it be a cause really?

Well that's the only issue in dash area, that I noticed. Don't think that might be the case in your car.

Very frustrating given these are $55K cars!!!! We don't ask for luxury in a 1M, but build quality at all levels should be fundamental.

There I was thinking I'm the only one.
Agreed for the price we pay you would think it would be quieter. My wife's Citroen has less rattles. However after all this is a performance car with firm suspension settings.

I know, wife's cooper has no rattles

I also get a high pitched sounds coming from just past the top of the A-piller, about where my shoulder would be. I know the dealer was up there for warranty work awhile back...

Had my windscreen replaced a few months back and had a whistling at motorway speed a couple of weeks ago. Windscreen people came back and fixed a botched job. The screen was fitted correctly.

Also whistles a bit from the drivers mirror when the drivers window is down some!

I have the same sound. Seems like it is near the passenger or glovebox area. It is more frequent when the car has been sitting in the sun on a hot day.

I don't have these sounds and creeks and rattles at all, I should know since I drive most of the time windows down, ac and radio off; in fact shakes and rattles are even less than my 2006 E90 330i which had a sunroof and Msport suspension with run flats and there was rattling all the time. I don't have sat nav, the climate here is very mild, never too hot or cold and the car never parked outside of a closed garage...just to eliminate some possible causes. The roads are particularly bad though with certain parts of my routine are covered with old cobblestones but the car just rides impressively solid and sound free. I also have PSS but even before with stock tires it was the same. BUT I am very low on miles still, maybe that is a factor.
