Thanks. It came from the digital brochure my SA sent me today. This is the first time I’ve gotten that (last ordered a car in 2021).

I received the same electronic brochure from my C.A. The brochure had a video composed of 8 exterior views and 6 interior photos. Oddly, the photos show Hong Kong Harbor and Hong Kong Island views looking from the Kowloon side (I've been in quite a few of those buildings). The steering wheel is on the correct side though.

Our 540i is Skyscraper Grey and we were really tempted to go with it on the M550i, too. It’s a great looking color.

That's funny since Arctic Race Blue is a great color and was our first choice until the end of our process. My wife is the principal driver of our Tanzanite Blue M550 which is parked outside. Thus, Tanzanite shows the dust as well as swirl marks from car washes. Ultimately, we decided on Skyscraper since it would do a much better job of hiding dust, appearing clean and reducing detailing maintenance.

It could quite easily sit at the dock for a week or two waiting for the ship to take it where it needs to go

Fingers crossed it ships quickly. The last car I ordered got stuck at Brunswick for a stop sale (for a rear camera sensor if I remember right), which was extremely frustrating.

Yeh it just depends upon the ship schedule and whether it gets there just before it’s due to sail of if it just missis it and has to wait for the next one

It’s frustrating as I could get over to Germany quicker my self and pick it up!

Although it doesn’t feel like it, the time will pass and you’ll soon be at the dealership with a big grin on your face to pick it up , sampling the new car smell the first time you open the door.

I’ve put 2000 miles on mine now and rate this the best car I’ve ever had . No remorse what’s so ever about seeing the tease shots of the g60 either

Did you do anything in particular for the first break in period? Did you get any service yet?

For the first 1200 miles I did the following

Avoided motorways so j would not drive for prolonged periods of time at the same speed / revs

Drove around town so load and revs varied

Didn’t leave engine idling to warm up

No short journeys so car was mostly running when warmed up

Didn’t thrash it but kept driving to be moderate

Only after 1200 miles have I started to use the power more

The manual states the recommendations , it buried at the back under care and maintenance

Reading up and watching lots of videos it seems most of the running in is undertaken in first 100-150 miles so I made sure I really varied loads during that time.
I’ve done all of this as a preventative measure against high oil usage although I’ve not read if any issues with the n63 tu3 as of yet

Thanks. My first 150-200 miles will be driving from the dealer back to my home which will include both highways and non-highways. I almost never use cruise control, so I plan to vary the speeds on the highway part a bit. Have you thought about an oil change?

In the uk the service intervals are 2 yes / 19000 miles
I know this differs to other markets so my thoughts are to do an oil change after 1 year and not have the cbs reset.

I think this might be wise . The tu3 so far seems to be reliable but I think as oil is so important , this would be a good idea.

My dealer suggested not to go above 4500 RPMs while keeping speeds below 100MPH for the first 1200 miles.

That’s quite a rare colour at least here in the U.K., don’t think I’ve knowingly seen one yet.

In Poland, the dealer also says to change the oil every 30,000 km, but this is stupid. That's way too much of an exchange interval. Most of the problems with V8 engines (with modern engines in general) are due to the fact that the oil is changed too infrequently. Engine oil in N63 units should be changed as often as possible, preferably every 10,000 - 12,000 km, maximum every 15,000 km. In addition, I recommend changing the oil after the first 2000 km. You will see how much metal filings are in the filter and in the oil. Look for videos on YT showing how many metal particles are in the oil inside a new engine after the first 2000km. If you want to drive your car for a long time, change the oil as often as possible.

And don't spare the money to change the oil after the first 2,000 km in a new car. I know that more frequent replacement is not covered by service packages, but it's worth paying extra for.

Yeh agree I’m not a mechanic but 2 years just feels far too long. It fine when the car is in warranty because the chances are there won’t be a problem but I intend to keep this car , this my future classic

Does the filter not keep all the particles as I thought that was it’s purpose?

Unfortunately, oil filter does not keep all the particles. If you use magnet, you can find many inside oil That's why the first oil change in the new car is so important and we should not wait too long to change it.
