Touched up this pic a bit. Thought I would share. I think this car looks dead sexy!

Also, those who say it needs to be lowered, the car's suspension drops like 2 inches once it starts up and you throw hit the sport suspension button

The front is just awful. Love the side profile though with the roof down.

Im always a SL fan and owned R230 before but cant deal with the rear on R231. IMHO R230 looks better.

This car just doesn't look agreeable in non-AMG trim. Really wish they made a true fixed-roof coupe version of this thing.

Isn't that basically just the CL?

And, idk, I just really do like the looks of the car. I actually prefer it to the outgoing model.

No the CL is an S Class Coupe. There is more than 600lb weight difference between the SL and CL.

Still loving the look of the SL, albeit, I feel the previous LCI version is the best overall design exterior-wise.

Interior-wise, this model is waaay ahead of the previous generation.

On the road, the new SL is without a doubt still a head turner and commands attention. I'm expecting the LCI headlights to evolve in a more fluid manner in the coming years.

On the other hand, the matte finish doesn't do this car justice.

Eh I still like the look of the outgoing model much more. Your 335IS looks much better than the new SL, IMO.

The side profile of the new SL is probably the least offensive. I just think they completely ruined the taillights, though. The previous generation SL had much sleeker and more coherent (with the rest of the body) taillights.

But I mean it's still obviously a great car. This car is actually on my dad's list right now but I'm pushing him towards the Audi R8. I think at this price range (roughly $100k-$150k) the R8 (v8) has the most exotic look.

I would agree with the comment about the Audi. My dad just has something against Audi, considering their past problems. And he's always preferred Mercedes to BMW (he much prefers the comfort and amenities to the 'driving feel' - he things my BMW has too harsh of a drive)

I agree with others. Its like they locked two designers in a separate room and told one to design the front, the other to design the rest of the car. The front is blocky, while the rest of the car has smooth lines. Its a mess of a design really.

I want to like the new SL, and every year before this one, I did. It was certainly "the GT" coupe/convertible to have and nothing could touch it, especially the SL55/63. You dreamt of it with nice 20s, staggered HREs etc. Maybe a classy body kit from a MB tuner.

It's just sad it looks the way it does today. It's not absolutely horrible, just soft and has odd lines / proportions, and certainly isn't the looker the last outgoing model was.

OP, nice pict and side profile is the best. Just ain't my cup of tea.

Because the interior of the previous generation was from 2003. 10 years ago.

Thanks.

And yes, I know that this car isn't for everyone, (It's my Dad's... I'm 20 and wouldn't personally drive an SL...) but I do think that behind the wheel, it's one of the most comfortable GT cars I've ever been in... and it drives like a dream (and FAST) in a straight line.

I'm definitely ready to take the heat for people not liking the car; its definitely controversial. Maybe because it's my Dad's... but I like the looks, and I know that I'm not the only one!

The Car itself is a great Car, no doubt!

I dont like the Front... The Proportions just not correct.

Like the new One Series (F2x)...

It looks like Sid from "Ice Age"

i just worked on over the weekend and I honestly love this car. Pix doesn't do justice. I had mixed feelings like most but once you sit inside and see the car, it really comes alive. Like OP said it's super comfortable. Not the most gorgeous or aggressive look but it is a very very nice GT ride. I would get a 911 if i am spending this much though.

There are two parked at my office each day. One is my friend's and sitting inside the car really gives you the best vantagepoint to see it's real genius and beauty. It has so many innovative features and is very well done and high quality. The other is matte finish like the one pictured above and I still think it's hideous. The exterior of this car is just a mess. That side vent/groove looks like it's right off a Dodge Charger.
