Damn! That looks like quality work. And it seems like it's all mandrel bend. I just ordered the Dinan D660-0080 - High Flow 3" Stainless Steel Pipe because the local guy here doesn't do mandrel bends. What was your cost and what, if they mentioned, the price for a custom exhaust.

It honestly depends what i want to do, if i buy a muffler from an m5 comp they'll just have to figure out approximately how many hours labor to fab it all up. I only drive my car weekends so I'll drop it off and let them take their time too.

The custom mid pipe was $800 but this sound is worth it.

They also do their own carbon fiber fab here too.

I'm looking forward to having my pipes installed. I'll give these guys a look. I'm in Canada but go back home to Rockland County NY often.

I'm right outside of Albany. That's where that shop that did my work is.

That looks like quality work and definitely what I would want. I have been debating and procrastinating on what to do. Dinan full Axleback/Mid X-Pipe was on the list, then just the Mid X-Pipe only, but I have gotten feedback that the X-Pipe (at least Dinan's) really didn't produce much sound. I am not sure if this is the case with all X-Pipes or maybe just the Dinan product?

So now I am considering a straight pipe resonator delete. BUT I don't want too much sound, definitely not a ton of pops and bangs, but something spirited.

I am new to exhaust modifications. From what I have read, a resonator delete, whether straight pipe or X, sounds exactly the same as stock in comfort mode. This is appealing to me. No matter what route I go, I will be adding the Dinan remote flap switch just in case Sport mode is too loud for the setting I might be in but want the power and handling.

Any input you might have to anything I have written would be helpful.

At start up it's definitely louder at first.

In comfort mode it's slightly deeper, no drone. In sport/Sport + it sounds amazing.

These cars have a good amount of insulation from noise too, so you don't really know how loud it is until you let someone else drive it with you outside.

Thanks, it's the outside sound I am concerned about and producing too much of it. I have been reading this thread. I listened to the YT videos in the first post. I think I definitely DO NOT want to do a full resonator delete straight pipe. Thinking maybe just deleting the 1 set of resonators (the set closest to the axleback).

Remove all the resonators on a 2018/2019. The 2020-2022 has a different muffler and from my ear listening to resonator delete on the later cars, its a lot louder, both with and without resonators compared to comparable 2018/2019. I looked up on realoem, and sure enough the part number is different for the muffler on 2020-2022 to compared to 2018-2019

Check out GT custom exhaust in Pikering. I'm going there next week to do a Stainless Steel resonator delete. He has mandrel and I want them to make a one piece catback pipe with for me. Mine is a 540i so no Xpipe. He does stainless steel weld too.

Looking into them now. My SA is telling me that any exhaust change that's not a BMW approved exhaust would possibly void my warranty.

Go to another dealership. He's completely wrong.
