Light wheels for G30
Hi
I was looking everywhere for light tires option for G30 but couldn't find any, most aftermarket tyres dont list their weight. I have 540i with RWD option with 19" 664m wheels, I came to a point where i cant stand the classic look so I replaced them with 19" OEM replicas not sure what code is the wheel. Although tyres where the same size i just had to transfer them, my butt dyno felt that car is more heavier and performance wasn't as before plus more stiffer ride (weight is more by 0.8kg than stock 664m on rears and 0.3kg fronts) I decided that I try and look for different lighter wheels, I'm looking at 19" since i do not want rough ride cuz my car came with fixed dampers. What are the options out there? I'm not planning on lowering either, I want flush look (oem like) and better performance 0-60 or 1/4 mile ( don't know if that's achievable) Any recommendation will be appreciated. Here is my current set up.

I run with NASA NE and see all kinds of race cars, real race cars and some HPDE cars. A lot of these cars are BMWs, mostly older BMWs but still BMWs. APEX Racing Wheels are a popular choice amongst these racers for their cars. Why? Because they're lightweight and they can take a beating when smashing curbs on the racetrack.
I love my VOLKS / Rays Eng. on my S2000. They are some of the lightest and strongest wheels you can get but they are pricey. They too have taken a solid beating from me on the track and remain straight and true. So yeah, if we decide to change up the look of of our G30 in the future, the first place I will look is APEX and VOLK. Last edited by G30 B58; 12-21-2021 at 09:15 AM.. |

I'm not sure I'd be able to feel any difference in my 3,400 lb. G30 by shaving a few pounds/kilos off the wheels/tires, especially at the cost of those lightweight racing wheels. Then again, I'm not tracking my car so what do I know?

Out of the 3 I think BBS CIR suits the car very well, but they dont come in 19".

I'm not tracking my cars but since i tried original tires and went to replicas i felt the difference in weight and performance. So I wanted to try something light plus who doesn't like more power?

That's enough for flow forged wheels from known EU / US brands, which are at most a few KG lighter than cast. For fully forged wheels that are several KG lighter per wheel you will need to look to China.

I guess this is a strictly European company and has nothing related to Japan except name only. I like some of the wheel designs, unfortunately there are no distributor or dealers in N. America.
