Has anyone used the dealer to have their car and interior coated? Opinions please.
Thanks

No
But personally I wold go to a detailer. That's their day to day job . I wouldn't trust a dealer to do a good as job as it's a sideline business for them.

That is understandable. However the dealer coating is exterior and interior and comes with a 7 year guarantee so is rather appealing.

LOL I highly doubt the dealer does the prep and coating themselves. They outsource most stuff. But I would rather have the option of choosing my own detailer.

Dealer applied products are no better than and possibly worse that those used by specialty shops. Dealers offer them due to high profitability. The 7 year warranty is worth considering, but read it carefully. For example on the interior....if the "coating" does not protect adequately and gets soiled....who pays to clean and prep before reapplication? Same on the exterior....if the coating needs to be reapplied and the car needs a buff first, do you have to pay? Usually these additional costs, more than make up the reapplication cost....so not a great value in the end.

BTW, I follow several detailers and testing sites on Youtube...there is not one paint protectant that lasts more than about 2.5 years when exposed to the weather. All would require paint buffing/correction before reapplication.

I agree, that is why I don't get the need for a 7 year warranty ceramic coating that require 3 coats LOL.

The dealer detailers are not employed by the dealer, meaning these aren't dealer payrolled employees. The dealer subs this out and a third party rents the space. It's very lucrative for both parties as most customers always do "something" while in. Personally, their $79 express detail and hand wash is well worth $79 bucks, for the glass alone. They don't hand wash with brushes and use MF cloths. Not sure on the products. Would I use them for a ceramic job? Depends, I would have to do some research on who they really are first and meet the head guy. My point is, these are often professional detailers and the dealer is just a satellite location to their high end shop. But their is definitely more peace of mind going directly to a high end shop and seeing the space and other cars they work on. Just don't confuse the complimentary wash and vac at the dealer with their Spa services. Different people and process.

I will NEVER allow them to "complimentary wash and vac" my car again. Completely half ass job, Maybe 2/3 of the car was dried off. Glass smears all over the place, etc. I had to completely rewash my car once I got home to fix what those idiots did.

Yup, you know me Mark, my account at the dealer has a note DO NOT WASH on it. Then I remind my SA in the most annoying way several times a day until I pick it up.

The last time I picked up a car at a dealer and the gave me the complimentary wash, it was COVERED with water spots. Who washes a car and does not dry it. No thanks.

My dealers detailer did a phenomenal job on that Express detail I mentioned. Even the door jams were wiped down, but I still gave them a quick pass with my Korean micro fiber cloth that is always in the trunk before I drove off.
