Dash Speakers Remove/Replace

Hi all, Happy New Year.
I am considering replacing the dash speakers myself. I have checked for instructions and watched a few videos but am somewhat intimidated. From what I have seen the dash trim and IDrive unit must be loosened/removed. I am concerned I will damage something.
Have any of you done this and if so any tips/tricks you can share would be greatly appreciated.

I have done it a few times. If you follow the videos on you tube you’ll be fine. Important not to disconnect the passenger airbag as it will throw up a warning light. Also use a magnetic bit to remove the iDrive unit so as they don’t drop into the dash.

Thanks Chuck. I got up the nerve and pulled it off today. Took my sweet time and proceeded with an abundance of caution. Taped up the upper dash molding used a couple of MF towels between the molding and the IDrive etc.
I don't think the the us spec cars have the connection you referred to at least mine did not.

Good job! The connection I’m talking about is attached to the side panel on the passenger side - it where you can turn off the passenger air bag.
