2019: 324,825
2020: 280,297
2021: 336,694

So, yes, inventories are down and demand is up, but sales last year were not only up from the 2020 pandemic slowdown, but higher than 2019, in which IIRC we had no pandemic impact to our economy.

So, there goes all of the arguments justifying higher prices at the dealer to save those poor starving salespeople. You could make a case that they are trying to replenish their savings from a horrible 2019, but that's about it.

I'm losing my sympathy.
I agree, the numbers are interesting. Then it becomes just the usual question of supply and demand. Why not to charge more if they can? It's up to the customers to decide if they want to pay up... The used car prices are up too, and frankly I haven't heard stories of people insisting on selling their used cars to strangers at pre-pandemic prices

Yep. I'm one of them. When MB suddenly announced it was stopping production of the majority of their cars with V8s, and could not produce the car that I ordered, I got my deposit back and walked next door to BMW. Shorter wait times and more options available. Honestly, I'm getting a car that's more comfortable with better performance -- for a lower price.

100%. Honestly, this was true even before the car shortage lol. I was working at Audi Last year for 7 months and was constantly struggling with closing deals because I couldn't justify to most customers higher prices compared to the BMW store next door. I only took that job intentionally to get some car sales experience and jumped over to BMW the second I had a chance
So now I don't have to lie when telling someone how great BMWs are compared to other premium brands.

I am coming out of a RS7 and while I love it dearly after 6 years it was time for a change. I didnt want huge 22 wheels w low profile tires or a 140K price tag for a new RS7. I was going to order an S7 but something told me to try a BMW. Thank god I met a good sales guy who taught me a lot about the M550. 80HP more then the S7, more thrilling ride and thousands less. I cant wait to get it and will review after a few months.

I went to Freehold BMW as well and they offered me the best net deal w my trade but I ended up in Maryland because they had the build I was looking for at the port in germany so I took it. It should be to the port Jan 11 but will be held up until its gets the RAM for the radio, hoping for the best.
