Improve Driving Assistant Plus by Updating ECUs?
I have the Driving Assistant Plus.
I am wondering If I update those ECUs which are being used for this assistant; will it improve it? For example KAFAS4, RS and so on? Thanks! |

If you're asking if upgrading modules is an option, the short answer is it will be cheaper to buy a new 2021 G30.

From what I've seen of the new system (I haven't driven a MY2021 with it yet) it looks more evolutionary than revolutionary. I wouldn't buy a MY2021 just for it ahead of the platform refresh. Such as the next major evolution launching on the 7-Series later this year called "Motorway Assistant".
I wonder if that will come to the 5-Series ahead of the platform refresh or not... BMW still has a lot of work to do on the tech front before it makes sense to chase their evolutions IMHO. |

I drove a 21 with the full driver assistant and hands free driving for about 1.5wks and it is a VAST improvement over what I have in my 17. Both systems are good at traffic jams but the 21 with the 3 cameras performed great cruising in the freeway. My car got istep'd and it changed DA a bit, haven't had the chance to use it to see how much of an improvement it is though.

the old DA+ is out of service, only the new DA Prof get new Updates. Have a G20 (M340i) and a G30 (M550i) in my house, there are significant differences between the systems. The DA Prof is more "Autopilot", more autonomic driving as the older system(DA+). And, the old system is not upgradeable...

So I won’t say it is a complete dead end. But obviously the new system has improvements. |

Be sure to do a full programming of all modules.

I got in November S15A-20-11-534.
Yes, it is right, some improvements for the DA+, but do not extpect too much. The car no longer oscillates between the lines. my car ist a 03-2020 |

For what it's worth I have 21-07 and it's been great! 2018 530e. Drove 4,400km from Vancouver BC to Toronto ON through the states, and the car did most of the highway driving itself. I just held my hand there to reassure it, lol.
Funny enough it was oscillating a bit in Ontario, but I felt that the highways here are slightly wider than the US ones. Those were pretty great. |
