M550 Dinan X Pipe $1199 Free shipping

Seems like a good price and free shipping for those looking to upgrade.

Here's the Dinan back end. If you're looking to do the whole exhaust.

I paid less than those prices through Dinan a month ago for both. Just need to monitor the Dinan site. Not sure who is going to install bring your own parts, but my Dinan shop will not let me bring my own Dinan parts. It's worth a couple of bucks more to be able to use a Dinan certified shop and also keep them happy.

I have also found that suppliers like these two mentioned do not have an inventory. They simply put the order in with Dinan for you and you still have to get in line. I wonder how loyalty with their installers works in terms of priority.

Any competent exhaust shop should be able to do the work if you brig in your own parts.

I get that. But for me, I let the shop order the parts at the Dinan prices and they own it. Install is only $300 for the full exhaust.

If you email/message or call getbmwparts.com directly, they WILL offer you a much better price, they just cannot advertise that, due to MAP pricing restrictions. I paid around $950 or so delivered from them.

So, what actually is MAP pricing?

MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Price. MAPs come in the form of policies, created by the manufacturer or brand of a product. These policies stipulate the lowest price point that retailers may use when advertising a product. In other words, as Mattew Hudson writes,

“In its simplest form, minimum advertised pricing (MAP) is the lowest price a retailer can advertise the product for sale. To clarify, this does not refer to the lowest price they can sell it for in their store—just the lowest that they can show online or in an advertisement.”

There are MAPs for almost every product on the market, depending on where you are in the world, and these policies are extensive. Brands and manufacturers invest a lot of time in creating these MAPs, and have highly vested interests in monitoring the market for MAP violations.
