Newbie here with 2 really quick questions re: new 530i !
Hi !
I have a 2022 530i and since day one my wheels have been squeeking at slow stops 20mph or less. The dealer is telling me its normal, but this isnt what I was expecting going into my first BMW. Its not really a common squeek Im accustomed to in my life, its more like a whistle. People are actually looking at me, and probably thinking "wtf?" Please tell me this is normal, and Im not already getting a runaround by my service department. Next, the first 3 oil changes are included at every 10,000 miles. Id like to change my own oil at every 5k intermediately. I already see that BMW doesnt use spin-on filters, and no dipstick ! Ive researched the process, not a big deal. I also see that BP Castrol makes the oil for BMW, so I'll be using their Castrol Edge oil. Can someone tell me how much oil goes back in after Im drained? and what size sockets do I need? and any advice on the whole process. Plan to keep my baby for a very long time, and no mechanic or engineer can ever convince me that every 10k is fine. TIA ! Last edited by italian926; 01-15-2022 at 07:48 PM.. |

I can't answer your questions but have a quick comment. It is probably worth the extra few bucks to get official BMW oil so that if something goes wrong and your engine blows up BMW won't try to deny warranty coverage saying you used the wrong oil. After the warranty expires, use whatever you want. Either way...keep records.
