ACC sensor fault "Lack of visability"
Hello
I have a 2017 G31 which have ACC (Active Cruise Control). But i have had problems for a while now. It started when i suddently got a fault message, when drivning, that the front collision warning failed. A long came other fault messages from side collision and so on. I had a guy check fault codes with ISTA+ and found out that the car didnīt have contact with the ACC-sensor in front. I checked the harness for damage but nothing to see. Then i bought a used ACC-sensor. It has the same code/serialnumber as my old one. The "new" ACC-sensor were installed and coded/connected to my car. Then i had to get it calibrated by BMW. This also went well. The car is connected to the sensor and calibration also went well. But as soon as the car drives, then all the faults come back. BMW tried to remove the number plate and the plate behind in case it disturbs the "view". But also without any result. Has anyone from here experienced this kind of fault? BMW tells me that they get fault text "Lack of visabilty" on the sensor. Now they want to change the plastic shield in front of the sensor. The old one is not damaged od in poor conditions at all. Hope to hear from someone who perhabs have a solution to this. |

Are you getting any KFAS errors in ISTA?

There is a bulletin out about KFAS camera failures and replacements. Your dealer should have it. Here it is.

In your original post, you indicated that you have gotten messages that both the front and side sensors are failing. To me, that suggests that the problem is not with the sensors but with either the wiring or the computer that the sensors use. Replacing one sensor seems senseless (pun intended).

Hello
Yesterday i drove the car to my buddy who works a bit with ISTA+. And he read out this Fault. 48214A Lack of visabilty. The radar/sensor is calibrated and the car seemes ok until i begin to drive. Then the message above appears on the screen. Next week i am going to BMW workshop and their next move is to change the plastic cover in front of the radar/sensor. But honestly i donīt think the cover is the problem. But again i donīt what next to do. Other than to buy a radar again. Itīs beginning to be expensive |

I have just bought my second used ACC-sensor. I hope this will work. The first one i bought kept failing. I donīt know if it is the heater that doesnīt work. |

problem solved
I purchased a second hand acc radar sensor with part no 66316891746 (300USD) which is newer model than original one (66316888029), and installed coded, and calibrated by myself with a 50cm*50cm mirror, it is fullly functional now.
G30 radar sensor can be one of following model: 66316899921 66316892575 66316891746 66316888029 66316886324 I also updated the related Ecu software (FRR2, ICam3,SAS, KAFAS4 and body GW2) to get better ADAS experience, the software was updated with E-sys while engine was running, no battery charger is needed. |

I have a G31 car. Same problem with ACC as you. Can you tell me how your problem was solved? You changed the radar cover and everything is fine now? |

Same problem with my retrofitted ACC radar - "Lack of visibility". *029 model. Do you have any idea why it did not work in your case? Was it just a broken radar? Did you replace the radome also? Thanks bro. |
