Hello all,
My G30 LCI has a very strange sound coming from behind the climate control. It sounds like the fan hitting something. The engine is off and only the climate is running on the passenger side at 22 degrees Celsius with the fan speed at medium settings. I have enclosed a video of the sound. Anyone experienced this? I don’t see the video so I can’t comment on it. Does the video show for you?

I find it strange that a model 2021 car that has only been on the road for 7 months can have an issue like this. I still have warranty so I guess it should be fixed under warranty? |

Recorded this last night with the car off. It's only noticeable when the engine shuts off during auto stop/start.

Ages ago, in my F90 M3 I had that sound, as did other people with F90s. Turned out a leaf got into the air intake for the HVAC and was sitting in the fan housing. The noise tone changed as the fan speed increased or decreased and you couldn't really hear it when the fan was on high. It happened more than once on my car, and so the service tech showed me how to fix it myself. Could be that.

I'm not sure how to fix it on a G30. But in my F90 you just popped the hood, and there was some plastic box near the windshield that was the air intake for the HVAC system. You basically had to open it and then you could see inside the blower fan compartment. And that's where the leaves would slip in. Then you just took a snake with a grabber on the end, and pull the leaf out.

I can't hear the video sound unless my AirPods are in, which aren't handy at the moment. It looks like it's probably a leaf, but I had a noise in a Chevy Tahoe hvac once that I was convinced was a leaf. Turned out to be an actuator that was going out. If that's the case, on a 2021, surely they will replace it for free. When I had that problem on the Tahoe, it was a 14 year old truck.
If it turns out to be a leaf, hopefully they can show you how to check for yourself in the future. Good luck!
