'22 540i xDrive

Long time listener, first time caller. After years of picky hunting for a perfectly spec'd and priced CPO G30, and my wife beating me to the BMW stage, I finally went in and placed my order from the factory for my very own 540i xDrive.

Alpine White
M Sport
19" M Jet Black
Premium Package
Heated Steering

Rebates weren't great got the loyalty discount and extra 750 but on the bright side there was no MSRP up charge. Pending delivery is 10-12 weeks so I have the Xanax ready.

We just dropped a deposit on a 2022 540i Alpine M-Sport. Loaded except for DHP and heated rear seats. Even did Mocha w/ massage. 😁

Gonna do Performance Center Delivery too this time around.. Did ED on our '15 435i.

Very nice. Had a friend that did that for his 4 series as well a while back.

Me 540 also started production yesterday. Order was placed 9/29 but assuming dealer had allocation that was about to go into production that they modified. Will be the 4th bmw but first time ordering.

Going to be a interesting couple months constantly checking for updates.

I was thinking about going the blue route but wasn't certain I didn't want something of a darker blue or more akin to BMW IND options. Either way easy fix down the line.

I ordered a 540i xDrive M-sport toward the end of August and this is my schedule so far. I think I'm on track for 10 weeks to my dealer. Fingers crossed

Exterior Body 10/5 – 6 weeks from start of build
Paint booth 10/5 – 6 weeks from start of build (2 weeks faster than the schedule above)
Entering Assembly Line 10/7 – 6 weeks from start of build (2 weeks faster than the schedule above)
Assembly in Progress – 10/7 - 6 weeks from start of build (2 weeks faster than the schedule above)
Quality Check – 10/7 – 6 weeks from start of build (2 weeks faster than the schedule above)
Final Assembly – 10/7
Ready for Transport – 10/7
Awaiting Carrier Assignment – 10/7 (3 weeks faster than the schedule above)

Archie, you might want to give your dealer a call. I bugged mine after four weeks of no movement (see calendar above) and they talked to BMW and my car has since been cruising through production. I heard that the shadow line is holding up a lot of production and I threatened to walk when I was told that and everything worked out. Good luck!

Now that I went into production I'll see if my timeline is semi close to what your has been following that point.

Yeah I'm lagging considering our orders were placed same day. I still haven't moved Scheduled For Production status since 10/5.

Ouch. I ordered five days before you and my car just left the factory and even I am getting impatient about how long it is taking.

Did you call BMW? Talk to the dealer? I think that got my car moving and now my dealer calls me every time there is an update to my status.

How did you track down the ship? Cars have been waiting a week or more to get on a ship once at Bremerhaven. Just because your car is there and a ship is leaving tonight doesn't mean it's going to be on it.

The ship arrived yesterday and leaves tonight.

1. I ordered a 2022 in late August and my dealer advised me what to avoid to speed the process up.
2. His dealership has a decent allocation that has been flowing 8-10 weeks of delivery for orders. I got in on a tail end of an allocation and because of this I'm told I have the shortest time frame for an order of cars. He says the Bremerhaven wait has been 1 to 5 days. My car arrived at Bremerhaven on 10/12 and the following ships are going to Baltimore in the next two weeks:

A. Maybe sailing on the K Line Olympian Highway to Baltimore 10/14-10/25.
B. Could by be the Wallenius Patriot on 10/18 – 11/1
C. Could also be the Arc Patriot 10/17 – 11/2
D. Not MOL because they don’t go to Baltimore.
