Hi all,

After a few years away from the brand, I recently ordered a 2022 530e. Wanted to share my experience so far with the ordering process.

10/22/21 - placed order and deposit with dealer. Was told 4-6 month wait.

10/25/21 - status 112, order scheduled for production, received production number from client advisor. From what I've been reading in here, I got lucky. Presumably, it was an allocation that the dealer had for inventory, but I didn't ask at the time. CA originally said it was in the build window of week 44-46. Ended up going into production week 47.

11/22/21 - status 150, production started. Both CA and BMW Genius told me it has a completion date of 6 DEC. I'm hoping to receive the car around the middle of January. Fingers crossed. I'll update as things progress. Cheers and Happy Holidays.

TIMELINE UPDATE:

12/02/2021 - Status 151, body shop started.

12/03/2021 - Status 152, paint shop started.

12/06/2021 - Status 153, assembly started.

12/06/2021 - Status 180, waiting for export dispatch.

12/06/2021 - Status 182, schudule for carrier.

12/07/2021 - Status 190, dispatched from factory.

12/09/2021 - Status 193, arrived at port of exit.

12/29/2021 - Status 195, shipped from port of exit.

01/12/2022 - Status 196, arrived at destination port.

01/17/2022 - Status ???, In transit from destination port to my dealership

01/18/2022 - At the dealership! 88 days from start to finish.

Yeah you definitely got a well timed existing allocation spot congrats for that. Shaved a month off your delivery time easy.

I considered getting the EV but was concerned that some of the components might be back ordered because of the supply chain issue. I assume by your post that all is good!

great package. As an owner of a 530e, I predict you will love it although the 545e would be better (but BMWNA won't sell it in the USA).

I don't know if they are still selling the leather dash but it is Nappa and goes really well with the Nappa upholstery.

10/14 production week 11/14 week 46
10/21 scheduled for production
11/22 parts delay now a week 49 build
11/23 production begins. VIN assigned
Estimated completion around 12/9 week 49

Mid January is where my expectation is set as well

Looks pretty close. I see you're in Miami. I'm up in Tampa. Maybe they'll be on the same boat together!

Would definitely rather have had the 6er, but, as you said, not possible in the USA. The Nappa leather dash was also not an option. The best I could get was the Sensatech dash. It still looks nicer than the stock one. Also, I went with the open pore ash trim. I saw both in a 540 in my local showroom and they looked great with the black Nappa.

Delivery buddies! My dealer is actually in central FL. Coggin bmw. Pretty good likelihood we could be on the same ship indeed!

Mine went into status 152 (paint booth) overnight. Not sure if the BMW Christmas Elves are working overtime or what!

I'm stuck at production begins since the 21st. My production is scheduled to be complete by 12/9.

Mine is 12/6, I imagine yours should get moving very soon. Not sure if the plant runs on the weekend.

My car went onto the assembly line (status 153) this morning. Almost there!

All done! Went into status 182 (Schedule for Carrier) a few minutes ago. Just checked with my CA and he said there were no option deletions which I'm thankful for

No idea if I am on there with you, I'm still stuck on quality check. Chance it could be a system update issue but no one knows.

Thanks, I hope that's what's going on with yours and it's on the boat. I called BMW Genius today and they told me the vessel name (Horizon Highway). I could never figure it out what boat it was on because the K Line schedule doesn't even list that ship as stopping anywhere on the East Coast.
