Hi guys

So I was free one weekend and decided to put Octane booster that was on shelf for around 5 years but was stored in cool dry place as suggested, so I filled one bottle and added full gas. After driving for a while to mix it properly I hit the gas and I immediately felt loss of power and lag with engine knocking noises coming from engine bay, I tried a couple of times but it still there. So I took it easy and tried to empty the tank for a couple of days and refilled and still there, emptied the tank again and filled and put the car to stock map and noises reduced but there still there with powerloss and lags. Car before adding Octane Booster was seamless and pulled hard.

What could have gone wrong with it, and is it safe to be driving it with those knocking noises, cars running fine if im driving normally but only when i accelerate it makes such noises. Help would be appreciated.

What you should do, and what you do actually do - entirely up to you.
If it were me, I would not drive it anywhere as it is most probably doing damage to who knows what within that engine bay.
Get it professionally fully drained (its going to cost, as disposal is not cheap) - get some fresh fuel into it, drive for a while, then brim it with more fresh fuel.
You could chance it and just run it, but waiting for, paying for and fitting a B58 & ancillary items will not be cheap in comparison - if it does go wrong.

Have to ask , why did you put that in when you could have bought higher octane petrol at the pumps?
Even if not available, the cars ok on lower octane ( I think down to 91RON (U.K.)) certainly fine with 95RON

I know I just had one bottle thats been sitting there for awhile and wanted to give it a shot. Its always feel good to fill the car with highest octane plus i wanted to try different maps.

Which Octane booster was it? It's possible you have screwed up your spark plugs. Pull one out and check if its fouled up.

these ones. Doesn't misfires supposed to throw some codes? I checked for any codes but shows nothing.

Did you dump the whole bottle in? How much fuel was in the tank at the time? I've used boostane for years but only 100ml per tank. I expect your plugs and O2 sensor are bright orange right about now...

Once the fuel tank has been drained and you filled up with the regular gas, things should go back to normal.

You are not getting any CEL which tells me, nothing has been damaged.

The last step is to datalog.

Yes I dumped the whole thing, there was 50 km range of fuel. I remember sales man was saying for every tank I bottle which is around for every 80 liters you should add 1 bottle.

if the car drives fine and you don't have a CEL, you can drive normally.
