Just ordered full Dinan Exhaust (price drop)

Just ordered the axle back, mid pipes and flap remote. I was kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on black Friday, so I put a daily reminder in to check everyday and today, prices on all of this is down $500. It was $600 on black Friday, but the time has come.

Something to look forward to.

Thanks guys. I am pretty pumped. I have been procrastinating over this ad nauseum for months. Went back and forth on just the axle-back, then just the mid-pipe with the stock muffler, then a resonator delete. Then the guilt of spending stupid money.

In the end, the thought of chopping up my system and patching in pipes for a resonator delete just did not sit well with me. I know, no one sees it, but I would know it's all patchwork and welding under there.

The small price drop allowed me to rationalize.

I went through the exact same mental anguish. Finally I bit the bullet too and bought the full exhaust.

So glad I did. Absolutely love the sound.

Hi Joe,
Congrats! Looking forward to seeing everything installed. I too thought of having pipes welded in but decided to do the mid pipe from Dinan with factory exhaust and a new diffuser. Can always add the exhaust later when the price is right.

Thanks guys. What diffuser did you guys go with? I recently changed mine up before I made the exhaust decision. I can't tell you how pleased I am with this ebay diffuser. I hope it fits the new pipes. From all indications from looking at pictures online, I believe it will. If it doesn't I will go with the OEM M5 diffuser and paint the top the body color and leave the bottom gloss black. But I really like this diffuser.

I ordered some eBay knock off. It's actually just the bottom piece. I think it looks really good, but I don't like the fact the top piece is gray still. I tried to wrap it this weekend and I lost all patience. I may switch it out for something that has both pieces in gloss black.

Tips look great, if you don't mind my two cents, it would look a ton better with a proper diffuser. Using the stock cerium gray is not an option for me. Your car would look so good with a full gloss black one. The stock two piece M5 diffuser can be had for a little over $300. The top is primed and the bottom is black, so you would have to get the top painted. In your case, I would paint the top gloss black. This is my plan if my diffuser does not work with the new tips.

You should get the one I got and then I will know for sure how the tips look in it

You talked me into the eBay one. I haven't particularly loved the one I have - mostly bc of the two tone look.

Also, they only had one in stock - so I felt the pressure! On order now…

Sweet! I can answer any questions on install as I just did it. Pretty easy, but you will take out 10 screws and only use 5 for the new one. No drilling. It does go in and out of stock a lot. It seems popular and the only one on ebay specific to the M550.

Looking forward to seeing some pics.

What's the height of the exhaust opening? Pretty sure it should fit the new pipes.

I didn't drive the car today, but will measure when I get home. Here is a picture of someone else's car with the Dinan exhaust and a diffuser that looks exactly like the one I have.

Much appreciated.

I think I may have to just raise the tips up a bit, but they look like the should fit.

I have this very same diffuser, purchased based on your recommendations. Just haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting to have it ceramic coated and for my Dinan mid pipe to come in.

Thank you. You were $220 cheaper for the axle back, but my shop is a Dinan dealer and won't allow me to bring my own parts, which is understandable as they do the install and stand by the parts and work. You also don't carry the mid-pipe. But that's a very good price you have there for the axle-back.

Installers that only install parts sold by them are not uncommon. But the reasoning your installer used, is a sign of dishonesty.

This applies if you are trying to buy a different brand and the dealer says, they only offer Dinan because they stand by the parts.

It does not apply when you are also getting the same Dinan part, from an authorized Dinan dealer with a full Dinan warranty, coming from the same Dinan factory with the same Dinan hardware

As long as you are happy with the mod , the price, and the service you got that's all that matters. Thank you for letting me know about the midpipe, I just added it, and congrats again

Thanks and agreed on happiness, but I have to add that I don't think they are being dishonest. They just aren't a bring my own parts kind of place.
