Interstate Transport
Hi folks
I have to transport my M550 from Boston to Austin and was wondering if you knew of reputable transport companies that can make the 2000 mile journey? Perhaps someone BMW dealers use? Many thanks |

Can't help but it sounds like a dream chance for some proper driving!
Understand you don't want to do it but coming from a small country I would jump at the opportunity!! I remember talking to a few friends in the Marines when I was on the Middle East 7 years ago and they said the rail companies in the USA do vehicle deliveries across state lines sounded like a great idea not sure if it's still an option. |

Might be a good question to ask some of the lease brokers on Leasehackr forum since they ship cars nationwide. Also might be tough finding trucks nowadays. It might be a fun 3 day drive if you dont mine adding miles to your vehicle. I did it a few years back to Dallas which is about 3 hours north of Austin.

I've never done it, but I'd be worried about the risks involved. Always a chance they'll ding it or otherwise during transport. I'd drive it myself just so I can know how it was treated during the trip!
For dealerships and car makers they have detailers ready to correct any transport issues... Of course, you can pay for quality covered car transport, but that can get very expensive. Whatever you do make sure they have good insurance and you do a great job documenting the car condition prior to the journey starting and once it has concluded. |

Thanks folks. If it wasn’t winter and if I had more than a weekend I’d make a road trip out of it. But the fuel and the hotels and extra mileage on my lease probably wouldn’t be much cheaper than shipping it!

Here in Scottsdale, reputable shipping companies line up at tables at the January car auctions. If you are anywhere near a car auction (like a Barrett-Jackson) you could check there. They won't be cheap but they are companies that will ship very, very expensive auction vehicles.

My two cents
Hi,
I recommend using Intercity Lines, which is the company Wayne Carini apparently uses to transport vehicles, too. Several years ago, I helped my father-in-law find a Corvette. It happened to be in IL but my FIL lives in NJ. We did some research and ended up using Intercity Lines to ship the vehicle. It was a great experience and the folks were very professional. More recently, my FIL used the same company to ship an Eagle Cushman to me and it was a similarly great experience. I'd use Intercity Lines in a heartbeat. |

Don't cheap out. I had a dealer acquire a car I was going to buy. Shipper did $6k worth of damage to the car so I passed on it.

Actually in the process of shipping a car to California and one back. There are a lot of brokers. Uship, as someone mentioned is a reputable company along with Roadrunner, Sherpa and and Reliable Auto. I'm using Nexus for one leg of the trip after a broker failed to have a truck show up yesterday. Nexus was able to have a transport there last night to pick up the car (X5). I'm using enclosed and would highly recommend the extra 500-1000 or whatever it ends up being.
I will know tomorrow who I'm using for the return leg. One thing I've learned is that almost every single comp[any you pull up online including the ones listed here are just brokers. Reliable and Horseless carriage are some of the only trucking companies that aren't brokers however they will still sell empty space. They typically only carry high end cars, or at least based on their pricing that's what they normally have on board. |
