Auto talent/Autotechnic dry carbon interior trim
Hi all, has any ordered /installed the Autotechnic interior trim bits? If so are the quality pieces , did they fit well. Kind of pricey so thought I would solicit some feed back. Thanks

I had huge fitment issues with an Autotechnik carbon fiber mirror. The fitment was bad on both sides. They were really quick with refunding the money though. COuld've just been a bad batch, you never know until you actually try to install it. I would imagine interior pieces have much tighter tolerances so you could run into issues, or not, unless they are stick on pieces.

Thanks for the response. Yes fitment is one of my concerns but they are stick on. Having a tough time getting any responses out of AutoTalent at the moment. So going to proceed cautiously.

The stick on carbon fender trim from Autotechnik for the 550i fit well. Email Autotechnik directly.

Appears next batch will come out of production in early March as per Autotechnic. They suggested pre order but I think I will sit on this one a while. Given supply chain issues etc.. I will wait until they have confirmed stock.

I am pleased with the results. i think it looks really good ion person and very close to OEM. Below are some suggestions I learned while doing this mod. 1. I highly suggest that you do not use their supplied adhesive as it sucks. 2. Use 3M adhesive promoter on the backside of the carbon fiber. the 3M two way adhesive needs help to stick securely to the carbon fiber. 3. Heat up the carbon fiber trim pieces, from the backside, slightly, this will make them more malleable. 4. Painters Tape up the carbon fiber trim piece. The clear coat will scratch even with microfiber. 5. Place the 2 sided adhesive on the OEM trim, not the Carbon Fiber. this helps in the lay-down process. Two Sided 3M Adhesive. Must be no thicker than 0.03mm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Adhesive Promoter. I used 1 per trim, except for the long dash piece, I used two. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 sorry for the bad pics. good luck. |

That does look good. Thanks for the tips and links. Question what about the area around the I drive controller. Did you remove it first or does the CF just fit around it.
One more question. Did you use the adhesion promoter on the stock trim or just the CF pieces? |

Just on the carbon fiber piece. If you put the promoter on the OEM trim it will dry to a thin film that is cumbersome to remove. Good luck. |

I love that feature!!! BMW told me that feature is a blessing as well if I were ever to be rearened at a stop. When the Autohold is turned on it is written to the program/key, so if some dillweed ever said, no, I backed into him, the program tells the tale..
