resonator delete X pipe help please!

Hi. I want to make my 2019 M550I sound more aggressive. It's been explained to me the least expensive way to do this is a resonator delete, via an X pipe. (I have no clue what either of those things are.)

My local Euro experts tell me they can't find any that will fit my car.

Can anyone help me find one?

go to an exhaust shop, ask them to remove the center 2 resonators and add an x pipe

If you're looking for the cheapest route, take your car to an exhaust shop and have them cut out the last 2 resonators by the muffler and replace them with a straight pipe welded in place. Several people have done this to get a deeper tone. Drive it like that for awhile and see how you like it.

If you want even more noise, take it back and have them cut out the other 2 resonators and weld in straight pipes again.

Any good exhaust shop can make an X-pipe. You might be running into the size issue. BMW use 2.75” exhaust whereas most common closest size is 3”. My exhaust shop made it work without blinking.

Thank you. Will a local muffler place like Midas do this? When I google Exhaust place near Bloomfield Mich it comes up with Midas Muffler.

I would call/use a reputable muffler shop versus the big box chain stores. Remember that Midas, etc are hiring people for the lowest amount possible.

Found this place for you, which is not too far away from Bloomfield.

My shop kept it 70mm throughout as they had all of the sizes

Also I have turned off the active sound via Bimmerlink as it was at odds with the new tone and pulse frequency of X-pipes sound. Seemed to create an artificial drone in the cabin at 2k RPM

+1 on killing ASD. It really masks the exhaust and it also degrades audio quality from the entertainment system.

BTW, OP, you don't need to do the X-Pipe with a resonator delete. In fact an X-Pipe with a resonator delete with produce less sound than leaving them straight.

You don’t need a x pipe, but would want one it makes the exhaust sound better and gives 1-2 extra hp

This is true and I'm with you. It's refreshing to hear, most people want loudness no matter what it sounds like.

Honestly, you won't feel 10hp, this is not a reason to get an X-pipe. I highly doubt it adds 10hp. I have the Dinan x-pipe, it supposedly adds 5hp. It doesn't feel any different.

I agree, every little helps however. It's the sound refinement of the X I like best. Takes out the rasp.

I have Dinan X middle pipes on my 2018 M550iX with stage 1 tune and stock muffler and down pipes. The Dinan X middle pipes added ONE hp on a hub mounted dynometer, before and after.

430scud -

Are your downpipes catless? I was interested in doing what everybody else is doing with the resonator delete, but I'm concerned about raspiness or drone sounds with catless downpipes; as I'm catless.
