Moving up to M550
Hey All
1st post here, but been lurking for a while. Just ordered a 2019 M550i, and definitely appreciate all the info that I've been scouring the past few months from this forum. Helped a lot in the decision making and in figuring pricing. Big move up for me, my current ride is a e46 330Ci (original owner). Not super crazy about tech, but test driving the M550 blew my mind. I guess that's what more than doubling the HP will do Options: Med Blue Metallic fineline cove matte trim dynamic handling package premium package parking asst package exec package 668M wheels with non run flats |

Congrats! I was also blown away by a test drive. What interior did you go with?
You have more restraint than I did with the options - I ended up adding all kinds of stuff but the packages you got are the ones I definitely would not have gone without. |

Also, got leather dash and ceramic controls. The car I test drove had the ceramic controls and i really liked the look and feel. Now just waiting like many others ... |

I was going to suggest ceramic controls also for the same reason you described. The wait is a tough one - hopefully yours goes quickly! |

I saw the Mocha Nappa and fineline matte on my brother in law's '18 530d. It works!
I think the matte finish sets it apart, surprised they dont offer more trim options in matte. |

My car was in the body shop yesterday, and in the paint booth today. ... getting there!
Was at "production begins" on 10/15, and Genius told me production would finish on 11/6. Long time... They couldn't give a reason why. Anyhow, looks like it 's moving now |

Mine went from paint booth to awaiting carrier assignment in less than 48 hours (likely much less as I only checked a couple times a day). VIN decoder showing a production date of 10/25 so it appears I actually moved up one week from my assigned PW somehow.
Yours should be out the door by Monday, I'd think! |

been in the paint booth for the past 5 days...
Genius says my planned ~2 week build is normal. I'm thinkin' they are either waiting for something (engine without oil pan problem!?!), or the car is getting one heck of a paint job. |

Yeah, I have talked to half a dozen or so Geniuses over the past couple weeks, and they all say nothing is noted that is delaying production. If there is something going on, they are tight lipped about it.
My timeline is below. The car has *most of the time* been scheduled to start production week 42, and finish week 45. Most geniuses said that it is normal, and only one said it was too long. Best he could come up with was they are waiting for something, but I dont have any individual options. It is still on schedule to finish ~Nov 6, so as long as it gets there I can deal with it. Just weird to see other M550s produced at around the same time, in similar color/options and finishing in 3-4 days! 9/19/18 In production queue. Build week 42 (Genius) 10/5/18 In production queue. Build week 46 (Genius) 10/12/18 112 Scheduled for production 10/15/18 150 Production begins 10/22/18 Production to Finish Nov 6 (Genius) 10/25/18 151 Body Shop Started 10/26/18 152 Paint Shop Started 10/31/18 Still in paint, to finish Nov 6 (Genius) |

Mine has been "Awaiting Carrier Assignment" for over a week. Today's Genius thinks this may just be a delay in his system updating.
I'm skeptical; but I guess there's not much they can actually do to either investigate further or resolve any issues, so they're probably trained to just say everything's fine. |

I got lucky. Mine finished production last Wednesday and left the port on Monday. I purchased the car on 10/1 and my CA said best case it arrives on 11/15. Thought there was absolutely no shot, but looks like he won't be too far off. The wait is killing me !

I didn't get the leather dash. I thought about while my car was in production, but the standard dash is stitched and looks very nice. I don't think you will notice the difference. All I've really paid much attention to so far is the HUD and top of the steering wheel. |

At the port today (port hueneme). CA says should have the car ready later this week. Been a long wait (3 months), but irrelevant now. Cant wait for the pick up
