Looks like new, top end iPhone might not fit in our wireless chargers...

The top of the line/larger iPhone 12 looks like it will be a little bit bigger, which leads me to believe it won’t fit in our wireless chargers (my iPhone 11 Pro Max with a silicone case JUST fits)

More here: https://appleinsider.com/articles/20...eup-looks-like

Anyone out there with a keener sense of the exact dimensions of our charging tray?

It would be ironic if the new, top end iPhone did not fit in the first car that is touting using Apple CarKey.

Thanks.

if it's any comfort, many of the larger Androids don't fit and haven't for a couple of years. Huge oversight on BMWs part. Seems they learned their lesson in the G20 as that tray is larger. Next gen 5 series will likely have a larger tray.

I have a Samsung S20 Ultra - with or without the case, it doesnt fit into the wireless charger.

My wife's iPhone 11 - no issues!

Then 6 series i had before this car, had an upright charger in the arm rest that the phone slotted into and was great.

Yeah harder for manufacturers to keep up with changing phone sizes since they will rarely do a a major interior redesign within a generational period. However given the Apple carkey setup I wouldn't be surprised if the 22 model year slightly changes the charging pad size to account for the new increase phone size.

That's right. The new iPhone 12 "pro max" is 6.7", or 0.2" longer than the current 11 pro max, so it will not fit the wireless charger. That's why I just bought the 11 pro max for my wife, with a $300 off discount from AT&T. Even the current 11 pro max is already too big for us and we don't want an even larger phone.

Well, apparently it may fit after all. The screen size is bigger because the bezel is smaller, but apparently the overall dimensions are the same.
