530e Charging Cap

Has anyone seen or had fitted a charger cap behind the flap. All I have and ever seen is just the flap. The BMW video shows a cap being removed just like a fuel filler cap - it does look like the video is of an 8 series but just curious why that has a cap but the 530e or even 330e don't ?

Probably due to the angle of the flap. My 530e flap is much more vertical versus the 30 degree or so incline on the flap pictured. The orientation of that flap looks like it would be more likely to have water running into an empty socket from rain, etc.

I, for one, am glad I do not have or need the Cap. Seems like it would be a pain to remove multiple times per day to charge.

Agreed, having a flap there would really annoy me. Giving me something to remove or put back into place while trying to rush in a rain storm would be annoying (I street park). Additionally, it would be dangling there for someone to fiddle with or to get blown around by the wind and risk scratching my paint.

No thanks!

Good point - I missed the angle of the flap. My previous 2 Merc plug-ins didn’t cause me any problems but lots of others had failures with water ingress as the charging socket was very slightly angled upward.
