Painting exhaust tips
Undertaking painting my exhaust tips while on lock-down. Getting them off was easy. Took a small 2x4 and knocked them off from underneath the bumper. Cleaned them off with a brush and wheel cleaner, sanded with 40 grit sandpaper and sprayed 4 coats with low gloss black engine paint. Probably won't bake them as other members have done, as my wife and kids are on lock down with me. I am going to let them dry overnight and will re-install tomorrow. I'll follow up with pics when complete.
I figure if I mess this up (seems pretty hard to do), I'll just buy the black tips online... |

Looks good. Be sure to let us know if it doesnt work out for for any reason. I'm thinking of doing this as well. Good luck.

So far so good. I'm curious as to how the paint holds up to wear and tear over time. At least it's easy enough as to where it can be touched up quickly if need be.

Looks great! I did the same thing and yes, baked mine... just make sure you banged them back on tightly! I thought I did...and lost one on the highway somewhere between Chicago and Wisconsin... ended up buying a painted set from ECS Tuning as I had to buy one anyway.
