Anyone mounted wider tires on stock 19" wheels?
I am very interested in going with Yokohama AD08r in 275 front, 295 rear. However, I'd like to put these on stock wheels. While a bit narrow, these tires should fit the stock 19" wheels, at least if the data on tirerack.com is to be believed.
My major concern is whether these wider tires will rub. I'd prefer not to run spacers. Any insight appreciated. |

I will note that the wider tire will give a bit of a bulge look and I prefer the slight stretch look of the stock PSS. I just needed stickier tires for the track. If I wasn't tracking the car I'd stick with the PSS unless I get wider wheels. 295 rear tire would look better on a 10.5 or 11 inch rim probably.

AD08R is such a great tire. Even in stock sizes (which are available) you'll get much better response than PSS.
I went with 20" wheels, but was a tough call for me because I really wanted to run AD08R for the street. Curious to hear how 275/295 fitment works out. |

Thanks to all for the feedback.
I just ordered a set of Yok AD08r, 275/30-19 front, 295/30-19 rear. I'll post pictures and impressions in a week or two after they arrive and get mounted. I don't mind the "bulge" look that will result on stock wheels. I think the bulge will give added protection to the wheel and reduce the chance of "curbing." However, I hope I never have to test this theory ;-) |

Too wide imo. Not enough sidewall support since the wheels are too narrow
No huge issues, but it will negatively affect turn in, steering response and body roll Stick with stock sizes or buy wider wheels :twocents: |

Although it won't matter much on the street IMO.

Of course if I feel problems with handling, I can always get wider wheels. Regardless, given the ease with which I can break loose the back end in first and second, the car needs wider and stickier tires. I am really looking forward to brisk acceleration with much less wheel spin and/or traction control intervention. |

Spacers were 15 front/12 rear with PSS, now 12 front, none rear with the wider Toyos. I think I'd go with 265/35/19 in front if I was worried about asthetics, since the 30 series just make the front wheel gap even worse. This is just a temporary setup until I get dedicated track wheels.

Obviously it'll work. Will try that combo next season as well and hope i can still use my current set of rear wheels at the front...but not quite sure if they'll survive... |
