M Performance Parts including M Performance Exhaust Now Online

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Some M Performance parts for the 2017 530i and 540i were posted online today! (Up until today, the only product listed was the carbon fiber license plate frame.) One of which is the M Performance Exhaust System priced at $1,975.

There's no direct link to the page, so you'll need to go to http://www.shopbmwusa.com/BMW-M-PERFORMANCE and then filter by 2017 / 5 Series.

I see a new diffuser that has not been seen before.

And I wonder if the M Performance brake calipers only comes in red.

The M Performance exhaust has a different shape than the M sport/540i exhaust, so you need a new diffuser too.

Is this right? So what happens if you are fitting the m performance diffuser without the m performance exhaust?

Must be different diffusers for the different exhaust tips.

Look at this one with the M Performance exhaust tips.

And then this one with the regular exhaust from the M sport package.

Id say the top one has the Carbon diffuser (part 10) fitted
and the bottom one the paintable black diffuser (Part 9)

No restrictions are given on the parts system between the exhaust types for the 2 different diffusers

Yep that is right top carbon, bottom plastic.

Both tips must fit both I guess. I'll certainly be pissed off if I come to fit the exhaust in the future and have to change the diffuser again!!

This is the one shown in the BMW Online Shop now. Has a carbon surround

The rear bumper piece also seems gloss black, while the production piece is matt black

To me it seems like you can choose if you want part 9 or part 10 to fit to part 8. But there must be different part 8 to accommodate the difference exhaust tips, and to me, the are clearly different.

From the press reease about the M Performance.
-In addition to powerful engine acoustics, the stainless steel sports silencer also adds a striking visual accentuation at the rear of the vehicle, where it is combined with either circular or trapezoid tailpipe trims in chrome or carbon fibre, depending on the engine variant.-

Yes, you need to choose either 9 or 10
But there is only 1 part 8 listed for all G30 except M550iand its only restriction is you need M Sport Pack

M550i has a different part 8
But also listed as Matt Black

So 9 is the plastic and 10 the carbon but no difference for regular tips or M performance?

I hope not.

I feel like it they're going to call it M Performance then it should improve performance. Most of these options are more "M Lifestyle" or "M Appearance".

How about some love in the performance department? Maybe Limited Slip Differentials or water injection?

Brakes and exhaust for now.
Some power kits to come.

Cant see there being enough demand for a 5 Series M Performance LSD

Water injection would require a hugely expensive change to a car that did not have it before.
Water injection should become standard on the next generation of engines.
Bosch made the system and will be rolling it out on multiple manufacturers cars over the next few years.
It helps hugely with emissions and fuel usage regulations coming in.

Seeing how the M Performance tips shapes like the M550i tips, I assume it's part 8 for the M550i painted gloss black on the one with M Performance tips, and unpainted part 8 on the one in the showroom with m sport exhaust tips.

Please take a closer look on the diffuser on the car in the showroom, it's clearly has a different opening for the exhaust tip than the press pics with the M Performance tips. Look at the line over the tips that goes inward and slightly down, it's different on the diffuser for the M Performance tips, that one goes straight inwards and curves down.
