I've also gone with the 30d but not had experience with f1x or the e6x in that engine. My previous 330d f31 was lovely but obviously lighter and the 530 is much more powerful. I test drive it and it was lurvely so we're pretty psyched

Let us know, the torques especially must be noticeable. Love my 3.0d, always surprises me at full bore to the red line windows down.
Agree re the 2 extra cylinders vs extra toys, my f11 pre LCI 530d doesn't even have sat nav but has 258 Bhp as compensation. The harder you drive it the more you appreciate the car.

I hope so too....drove the previous 730d with the 258bhp engine same as my F10 and I was underwhelmed compared to the same engine in my F10 so I imagine the lighter body added to the extra power and especially torque can only be positive!! I guess I'll have to wait a month or so before its run in before delivering a verdict...mind you, a 700km round trip hitting some golf courses shortly should shorten the run in!!!

Based on my test drive, I'd say the G30 530d feels like it's half way between the 530d and 535d in the F10 range. The 0-62 numbers seem to back that up.
It's neck-snappingly quick out of junctions if combined with xdrive, and feels effortless in most real world licence-preserving driving. I suspect it's not quite as rewarding to really rev out as the 535d (I didn't want to break a £60k demo car so tried to behave myself !). As a current 535d owner, I would be quite happy with the new 530d. |

I bet there won't be too many more six cylinders arriving in Helsinki either! But then from my experience, not too many opportunities to exploit the engine power without getting into trouble with the police (and the significant fines based on income level - unless that has changed over there?)
