IND | European Sun Visor DIY
As BMW enthusiasts for nearly 2 decades it is no secret that our European counterparts are privy to some rather unique parts. Although a good portion of this is hometown support, some of these parts are simply a byproduct of regulation. The European visors are one of these products and offer a clean and cohesive look for the F8X interior. Gone is the blinding white, yellow, and black text staring you down in the morning. Below is a DIY guide for those looking to replace the unsightly visors.
These visors are available for purchase through our site. We will keep an eye on this thread for any questions, but we are also available via phone or email. http://ind-distribution.com/ind/cate...-sun-visor-set Email: info@ind-distribution.com Phone: 866-963-4520 (Local 847-963-4520_ IMPORTANT! IND is not responsible for compliance. This is a European TUV approved product. Please check your state and federal motor vehicle compliance laws. Tools required:
Step 1: Move sun visor to side allowing access to the mounting point. The visor is held in place by a single Torx25 screw as well as the PnP connector for the vanity light. Remove the plastic cover with a nylon prybar or interior trim tool. Step 2: Now that the Torx25 screw is visible simply remove this screw. Step 3: Carefully remove visor from the headliner. Upon removing the visor you will notice the PnP connector, disconnect this piece from the visor. Step 4: Reverse the installation and enjoy the clean European visors. No more glaring air bag logo.

Visor label removal
On older ones the label could be taken off with heat, GoofOff and patience, but these look to be welded on?

I've removed mine without problem. I used 99% Isopropyl to soak them and finished up with Goo Gone to remove the glue residue. The only difference from previous vinyl visors was that because these have a rougher texture a little extra scrubbing was required to get all of the residue. I used an extra soft toothbrush for this.

Correct. BMW's attempt at a tamper proof design.

No raised edge but just like previously you can sometimes detect a slight change in sheen where the labels used to be. I don't think the current labels are any different than what I have seen before.

Is the only difference the sticker/disclaimer, or actually the visor has a different texture/material/feel?
The standard US one seems like rubber or plastic. Is the Euro version anthracite cloth? |

It appears from the OP the visor is the same material.

The cover is split, with the forward half hinged at the front. Pry at the split on each side and it will rotate down, exposing the Torx screw (see IND's 3rd & 6th photos).

Pry bar set
Just pulled that off the net, but I have a similar one in a different brand & color. Here's that one: http://www.carid.com/astro-pneumatic...-35961166.html.

Scotchgard?
Should I Scotchgard these?
I'll be replacing the plastic visors from my F34 with these, which has me thinking about the dirt, oil, etc. that may build up on the fabric over time. Has anyone tried spraying something like this on these? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...d_i=B00006IA8O |

The material is same as US visors, I believe; really more plastic than fabric. No protection needed, IMO.

I'm in Europe and I have this warning too. Only difference is, it's on the passenger seat's visor.. These visors without it must be some older stock or special production
