Gents,

can anyone advise me on how to install USB2 in NbtEvo HU? There is a USB2 connector at the back of the HU. If I connect a HSD cable with USB connector in the armrest box, would the HU recognize a USB stick? I need to use the connector to play music (and to be recognized as USB2 on the screen), not only for charging a phone. Any coding needed?

Not really sure what you are trying to do, but there are usually two USB ports, one in the armrest and one in the console in front of the HU (under the sliding lid). I think only the one under the lid can be used for charging.. (?). I usually just plug in my music USB in the armrest. If it isn't working for you, you may have to format it corectly..?

My car, however, has only one USB under the sliding hood. There is no USB port in the armrest. I want to install a second USB in the armrest, which will not be used only for charging, but for playing music. Because there are two USB connectors at the back of the HU (one is empty) I would like to use this empty USB port for this.
In other threads, however, I read that it needs to be coded, otherwise the new USB port would only charge, unusable. for playback / data transfer. Hence, I need some advice on how to code it with BimmerCodes.

Unfortunately not. When upgrading stereo (replacing speakers with better ones + adding an amp) we took out the HU and found out there was no place to connect an additional USB :-(. No wifi connector either...

Do your vehicles have a CD/DVD drive on top of the air conditioning?

Do no BMW G30/G31 LCI (2020-2023) come with the aforementioned optical unit? Is it worth installing it? Can it be installed in any other location?

My car has a stock CD drive. The HU, however does not have any port which could be used for additional USB. The main reason for the intended install is that I was thinking of using an external DAB+ radio receiver which would be controlled by Idrive and would connect to the HU through the second USB... BTW, my car is 07/2018, i.e. pre-LCI model.
