How does it compare to the 540?
Is it more "torquey" More like a cross between a diesel in that respect and petrol in terms of its refinement? ( that's what I have always imagine a v8 like that would be like) How does the steering compare as well ,, Have they tweaked that , any more feedback? |

This setting (Sport) would be my go to on good roads. It was nice and punchy. Anyway for me D1 in Auto is fine as the paddles will do the rest. In Sport+ I set the Engine to Sport+, suspension Sport and Steering Sport. This setting sets the car on Fire, it just flys, Instant power. I still got 25MPG from the car with 45 miles on that I put on it from zero, impressive. So much go and then calm with the button press. Is it worth £40K or so more than a 540i M Sport.......... not really...... But with a good discount next year who knows. One final word on size, it felt no bigger than the 540i and handled very well, so the weight difference was not noticed by me. Steering was more precise.

With literally twice the HP and torque as the 540, "slightly more go" seems like an understatement.

Anyway the Auto box is every bit as good and has all the modes your used too. Changes in speed 111 are to snappy for me, I prefer setting 11, which is nice quick and smooth. PS) acceleration is epic.

Must add, at the price point for the 540i M Sport it is very very good.

You still have the F10 so you've got your go to Mental days.

I think it is just about right for UK roads in terms of usability. The noise is good. Just had the dealer drop off all the parts they removed if people want pics of the torque converter and exhaust. (Cannot believe the diameter of the input tube of the original exhaust)

Definitely feels more like an old school turbo car and the power delivery reminds me very much of my old (2007) Volvo V70R, although that used to run out of breath after 5500 rpm, where this pulls all the way almost to the redline. I am not saying there is turbo lag, but you definitely feel more surge in mid range in both comfort and sport modes. As people have said before on these forums the standard 540i is tuned to give a very linear response, where as the MPPSK has a bump in torque probably around 2500 rpm (from memory). I have always used the paddle shifts when driving on open roads because I like to use engine braking into corners and like the torque surge even more so now, by keeping in higher gear and letting the torque do the work, I love driving in manual mode. I have also notice more of a difference when you push the gear selector left in sport auto more than I did in my F11 535d. I think it because the petrol revs higher than the diesel, which would always run out of revs. Hope this answers your question. (sorry to hijack the thread)
